Leawarra railway station is located on the Stony Point line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Frankston, and opened in 1959 as Railway Stopping Place No 16. It was renamed Leawarra in 1962.[1]

On 22 June 1981, the passenger rail service between Frankston and Stony Point was withdrawn and replaced with a bus service.[1] On 16 September 1984, promotional trips for the reopening of the line began,[2] and the passenger service was reinstated on 27 September 1984.[1]

The platform was extended in 1988, to be able to accommodate a DRC railcar with an MTH carriage.[3] Even then, at 44m, it was the shortest platform in Victoria with a regular rail passenger service. When Sprinter trains were introduced on the Stony Point line in 2008, the platform was again extended and is now 60m long.[4]

In 1989, boom barriers were provided at the nearby McMahons Road and Hillcrest Road level crossings, located in the up and down directions respectively.[1]

The station also serves the Peninsula Campus of Monash University.

Langwarrin, a closed station on the Stony Point line, was located between Leawarra and Baxter stations.[5]

Platforms, facilities and services[]
