List of Afghan Ambassadors to New Zealand

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Canberra, Australia, is jointly accredited to New Zealand as well. As a result, non-resident Ambassadors present their credentials to the Governor-General of New Zealand in separate ceremonies to those in Australia.[1]

Mr Mohammad Anwar Anwarzai, Afghan Ambassador to Australia from 2005 to 2007, was unable to present his credentials to the New Zealand government.[1]

On 3 May 2018, the New Zealand government confirmed appointment of Mr. Yasin Hotaki as Honorary Consul of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to New Zealand. He was proposed by the Afghan Embassy in Canberra to the Afghan Government in 2017. The Honorary Consul operates in Auckland under direct supervision of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Australia.[1]
