The Minister of Social Affairs and Employment (Dutch: Minister van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid) is the head of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment and a member of the Cabinet and the Council of Ministers. The current Minister is Wouter Koolmees of the Democrats 66 (D66) who has been in office since 26 October 2017. Regularly a State Secretary is assigned to the Ministry who is tasked with specific portfolios.[1]
Several prominent people who served as Minister of Social Affairs are: Carl Romme (Catholic Leader), Dolf Joekes (co-founder of the Labour Party), Gerard Veldkamp (prominent politician), Jan de Koning (prominent politician), Ad Melkert (Labour Leader), Piet Hein Donner (prominent politician), Henk Kamp (prominent politician) and Lodewijk Asscher (Labour Leader) including multiple (future) Prime Ministers: Willem Drees, Louis Beel and Joop den Uyl.
