Characters[]
The following is a list of characters featured in the Transformers film series, distributed by Paramount Pictures, and its related media appearances. Over 214 characters have appeared in the film franchise.
Autobots[]
In the first five films, 40 Autobots have appeared in the series. By the end of Dark of the Moon, ten Autobots remain on Earth. Five years later, half of the Autobots have been eliminated by Cemetery Wind, Lockdown and TRF. By the end of The Last Knight, all surviving Autobots (Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, Crosshairs, Cogman, Daytrader, Hot Rod, Sqweeks, Wheelie, Topspin, Roadbuster, Brains, Mirage/Dino, Trench, Bulldog, Grimlock, Slug, the Mini Dinobots, HMS Alliance Autobot and the Knights of Iacon) finally leave Earth and return to Cybertron.
- Primes – The title of Prime is bestowed upon the civilian and spiritual leader of Cybertron. Among the known Primes are:
- Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) is the leader of the Autobots, the last descendant of the Dynasty of Primes, one of the Guardian Knights, keeper of the Matrix of Leadership and the narrator of the series. He transforms into a 2007 red and blue Peterbilt 379 semi-trailer truck in the first three films, a rusty 1973 Marmon HDT-AC 86 semi cab-over truck in the beginning of the fourth film, and later a blue and red Western Star 5700 OP Phantom semi-truck. Optimus Prime is armed with an ion blaster, a shotgun, energon blades, an energon axe, energon hooks, bladed knuckles, a shield, and flight gear. The flight gear features machine guns and missile launchers. In the first film, Optimus Prime arrives on Earth with Ratchet, Ironhide, and Jazz trying to find the AllSpark. At Mission City, he kills Bonecrusher and battles Megatron, but Sam pushes the AllSpark into Megatron's chest, killing him and destroying the cube. As a result, Cybertron can no longer be restored. Afterward, Optimus and the other Autobots form an alliance with the humans and work closely with NEST. In Revenge of the Fallen, Optimus is killed (impaled from behind) by Megatron after a battle with him, Starscream and Grindor. Near the end of the film, he is later revived by Sam with the Matrix of Leadership and is fused with Jetfire, making him more powerful. Optimus Prime then faces The Fallen and Megatron. After a vicious fight, Optimus severely wounds Megatron and kills the Fallen. In Dark of the Moon, Optimus revives Sentinel Prime using the Matrix of Leadership and revealed he was the leader of the Autobots before him. But, Sentinel later betrays the Autobots and joins the Decepticons to restore Cybertron with the Pillars. During the battle in Chicago, Optimus kills Sentinel Prime (avenging Ironhide's death) along with all Decepticons, including the Driller, Shockwave, and finally Megatron. Optimus finally has a trailer similar to his Generation 1 counterpart,[5] and has been redesigned to look more heroic.[6] The trailer contains enhanced weapons and flight gear. Optimus loses his right arm to Sentinel Prime at the film's climax. In Age of Extinction, he is being hunted by both the Transformer-hating Harold Attinger and a Cybertronian assassin and bounty hunter, Lockdown, who is working for the Creators to bring him to Cybertron. Soon after his capture and in the battle of Hong Kong, Optimus tames the four legendary warriors (the Dinobots) and rides Grimlock to fight Galvatron (Megatron reincarnated) and his new army of man-made Transformers. After defeating Galvatron's army, he successfully kills Harold Attinger and Lockdown (avenging the deaths of Ratchet, Leadfoot, and Lucas among others). He then sets the Dinobots free and asks his fellow Autobots to protect Cade and his family before taking the Seed into space and going after the Creators. In The Last Knight, when frozen and floating past Jupiter, he arrives at Cybertron, now a dead planet. There he finds Quintessa, the Prime of Life. She brainwashes Optimus to do her bidding and gives him a red marking to achieve her goal of destroying Earth, which she reveals is an ancient enemy planet called "Unicron". She tells Prime that he must retrieve her staff to rebuild Cybertron. Prime's eyes turn purple, his paint scheme turns to black, and he becomes Nemesis Prime under Quintessa's control. Later, just as he is about to kill Bumblebee, Bee speaks for the first time in 10 years. The sound of his friend's long lost voice causes Prime to return to normal, shown by his eyes turning blue again and his red marking disappeared. He rides with Dragonstorm into battle. After brutally seemingly slaughtering Quintessa and saving both worlds, Optimus and all Autobots return to Cybertron but don't actually leave Earth as Earth and Cybertron are now joined as one planet. Optimus Prime reappears in Bumblebee, in which he is designed more like his G1 self. In the film, he leads the Autobots against the Decepticons trying to take over Cybertron, but is forced to retreat when Decepticon reinforcements led by Soundwave and Shockwave attack them. Realizing that Cybertron has fallen, he orders all Autobots to get to their escape pods. However, he has given Bumblebee the task to protect Earth and set up a base for them before being attacked by Ravage and other Decepticons. In the end of the film, he praises Bumblebee for keeping Earth safe.
- Sentinel Prime (voiced by Leonard Nimoy) is another member of the Dynasty of Primes, the first leader of the Autobots and the captain of the Ark who transforms into a red and black Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 airport crash tender fire truck. Sentinel Prime is armed with a cosmic rust cannon, a double bladed Primax blade that can be folded into one and a shield. He is the leader of the Autobots before Optimus succeeds him, during the War for Cybertron. He makes a deal with Megatron to restore and rebuild Cybertron to bring the Pillars (including the Control Pillar) to Earth's moon and later to Chicago, in order to transport Cybertron to Earth/Unicron's atmosphere on Quintessa's behalf. However, after Bumblebee and Ratchet destroy the Pillars and Megatron interferes with his fight against Optimus, Sentinel gets his brains blown out by Optimus for his betrayal. His head makes a cameo appearance at the KSI building in Age of Extinction, it is not converted into transformium.
- Bumblebee (voiced by Dylan O'Brien in Bumblebee, Mark Ryan in the 2007 film and the Revenge of the Fallen video game, Erik Aadahl in The Last Knight) is an Autobot scout, later Optimus' second-in-command after Ratchet's death in the fourth film, Hot Rod's brother-in-arms and Sam's former guardian in the first three films. Bumblebee is armed with a plasma cannon that is capable of selective fire. He also uses radio soundbites after losing his voice on Cybertron, his throat begins healing after Ratchet fires a regenerative laser. Bumblebee transformed into a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro, and upgrades into the 2006 model. Later at the end, his voice has spoken again. For Revenge of the Fallen, despite being repaired at the end of the 2007 film, Bumblebee's voice still uses radio soundbites to communicate. Sam tells Mikaela that Bumblebee's "playing it up". He also transforms into a new 2009 Chevrolet Camaro. For Dark of the Moon, his vehicle mode became a customized 2011 Chevrolet Camaro, featuring a new body kit and paint job. For Age of Extinction, Bumblebee is now a modified vintage 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, and later a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro concept. He appears after Optimus calls all the Autobots and has a rivalry with Drift (because Drift believes Bumblebee is too childish). He later aids Hound in a battle and rides Strafe. In The Last Knight, Bumblebee is now a modified 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, and gets his voice back and fixed, but is accidentally given a female voice. However, near the end, his real voice speakes again to Optimus, turning him back to normal and snapping him out of Quintessa's brainwashing. Flashbacks reveal that he and Hot Rod were the first Autobots to arrive on Earth and fought alongside the Allied forces to fight the Nazi Party during World War II, and transformed to a Mercedes-Benz Typ 320 (This backstory was later retconed in the spin-off/reboot movie, where it reestablished that Bumblebee first arrives on Earth in 1987). He also knows Edmund from when they first met before he met Sam and has the ability to reassemble himself after being blown to pieces. In Bumblebee, he is redesigned to look like his G1 counterpart and will transform into a Volkswagen Beetle. In the film, he lands on Earth after Cybertron falls to the Decepticons. After his synthetic voice communicator is ripped out and destroyed by Blitzwing, Starscream's slave, he manages to escape and befriends Charlie Watson, an 18-year-old girl in Brighton Falls, California. He comes into conflict with Decepticons Shatter and Dropkick, who are looking for him in regards to Optimus Prime's location. After being captured by Sector 7, led by Jack Burns, Shatter and Dropkick interrogate him and plan to bring a Decepticon army to Earth, intent on destroying it. Bumblebee manages to kill Shatter and Dropkick and he and Charlie part ways so he can be with Optimus Prime and the other Autobots.[7]
- Jazz (voiced by Darius McCrary in the first film, Andrew Kishino in Transformers: The Game) is the first lieutenant of the Autobots and Optimus Prime's second-in-command who transforms into a modified silver Pontiac Solstice Custom Hardtop GXP. Jazz is armed with a crescent blaster. He is later killed by Megatron during the battle in Mission City where his body ripped in two.
- Ironhide (voiced by Jess Harnell in the films, Mark Ryan in Transformers: The Game) is the Autobots' English-accented weapons specialist who transforms into a modified black 2006 GMC TopKick C4500 medium-duty truck. Ironhide is armed with shell cannons. In Dark of the Moon, he has a new rifle and a new rocket launcher. In Revenge of the Fallen, Ironhide takes down the Demolishor with Prime in Shanghai, then later takes over as Autobot Leader when Optimus is killed by Megatron in the forest. He leads the Autobots in the desert battle and helps Sam get to the pillars where Optimus lies. He is heavily damaged and forced to drop his heavy cannons during an airstrike. In Dark of the Moon, he helps Sideswipe to take down the Decepticon Dreads, as they chase Sentinel to NEST. But Sentinel Prime reveals his true color and betrays the Autobots, shooting unaware Ironhide twice in the back with his cosmic rust cannon, then once more in the chest, the Autobot warrior crumbling into dust in seconds. He was later avenged by Optimus when he kills Sentinel. Ironhide also appeared in a photo in Age of Extinction and The Last Knight.
- Ratchet (voiced by Dennis Singletary in Bumblebee, Robert Foxworth in the film, Fred Tatasciore in Transformers: The Game) is the Autobots' medical officer who transforms into a Los Angeles Fire Department Search and Rescue 2004 Hummer H2. Ratchet is armed with heavy machine guns and a saw. For Dark of the Moon Ratchet's alt mode is given a new paint job of green and white. In Age of Extinction, he has his spark torn out by Lockdown and his corpse is taken to KSI, melting his head to build remote controlled Transformers. His death was later avenged by Optimus when he killed Attinger and Lockdown. Ratchet reappears in Bumblebee, looking like his G1 self.
- Sideswipe (voiced by André Sogliuzzo in Revenge of the Fallen, James Remar in Dark of the Moon, Fred Tatasciore in Transformers: The Game, John DiMaggio in the Revenge of the Fallen video game) is the Autobots' combat instructor who transforms into a silver Chevrolet Corvette Stingray concept. Sideswipe is armed with Cybertanium blades. Having wheels for feet, he moves around skating. In Dark of the Moon, Sideswipe's vehicle mode is upgraded into a convertible Corvette. While Sideswipe goes completely unmentioned in Age of Extinction, he has been killed by Cemetery Wind or Lockdown.
- Jolt is a technician Autobot armed with a pair of electro-whips who transforms into a blue Chevrolet Volt. He appears in Revenge of the Fallen, where he used his whips to fuse Jetfire's parts onto Optimus. Jolt did not appear in Dark of the Moon as he was killed by Shockwave before the film was released.
- The Twins – The Twins are the result of a split Spark that resulted in two Autobots.
- Skids (voiced by Tom Kenny) is an Autobot infiltrator and Mudflap's twin who transforms into the front half of a white/pink Dodge ice cream truck, and later a green Chevrolet Beat. He has an oversized right arm. Skids is armed with a grappling hook. Despite the fact that Skids was not shown in Dark of the Moon because he was cut from the film, the novelization and comic book adaptions showed that he was killed by Sentinel Prime.
- Mudflap (voiced by Reno Wilson) is an Autobot infiltrator and Skids's twin who transforms into the back half of a white/pink Dodge Ice Cream truck, and later a red Chevrolet Trax. Like Skids, he has an oversized left arm. Despite the fact that Mudflap was not shown in Dark of the Moon because he was cut from the film, the novelization and comic book adaptions showed that he was killed by Sentinel Prime.
- Arcee (all voiced by Grey DeLisle, holographic rider played by Erin Naas) – The Arcee Sisters are three Autobots that transform into motorcycles.
- Arcee is a female Autobot who transforms into a pink Ducati 848. Arcee is armed with a machine gun. She was killed by a Decepticon. In Age of Extinction, Arcee is listed as deceased by Cemetery Wind. She makes a reappearance in Bumblebee as one of the few Autobots who left Cybertron on Escape pods and is a member of the Autobot resistance.
- Chromia is one of Arcee's sisters who transforms into a blue 2008 Suzuki B-King. Chromia is armed with a machine gun. She is the only component of Arcee seen functional at the end of the film, but Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman would claim that all sisters were killed in the Battle of Egypt at the behest of director Michael Bay.
- Elita-One is another of Arcee's sisters who transforms into a purple MV Agusta F4 R312. Elita-One is armed with a machine gun. She was shot and slain by a Decepticon.
- Jetfire (voiced by Mark Ryan in the film, Clive Revill in the Revenge of the Fallen video game) is a Cockney-accented Seeker and former Decepticon turned Autobot who transforms into a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird. Jetfire is armed with a missile launcher. His wounds and age have made him choose to fight on the side of the Autobots. He walks with a cane, which doubles as a battle axe, which is also the landing gear for his transformation into the Lockheed. He later sacrificed his spark to allow Optimus Prime to utilize his components and weaponry to destroy the Fallen.
- Wheelie (voiced by Tom Kenny) is a Decepticon spy turned Autobot, like Jetfire, and a partner of Brains who transforms into a blue radio-controlled toy monster truck and speaks with a Brooklyn accent. In The Last Knight, Wheelie survived and joins with the other Autobots in Cade's junkyard.
- Brains (voiced by Reno Wilson) is a small and intelligent Decepticon drone turned Autobot and a partner of Wheelie who transforms into a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge laptop computer. Brains is armed with a micro shotgun. In Age of Extinction, Brains reappeared, but lost his right leg after crashing into a river inside a Decepticon Ship. His fate in The Last Knight is unknown.
- Mirage (voiced by Francesco Quinn) is an Autobot spy who has wrist blades and transforms into a red Ferrari 458 Italia and speaks with an Italian accent. He was credited as Dino. He is not listed as deceased on Harold Attinger's deck cards meaning that he is alive and escaped Cemetery Wind and Lockdown and was hidden in an unknown location.
- Wheeljack (voiced by Steve Blum in Bumblebee, George Coe in the Dark of the Moon, Erik Passoja in Transformers: The Game, Jamie Alcroft in the Dark of the Moon video game) is an eccentric Autobot scientist who speaks with an Irish accent, whose head design resembles Albert Einstein in reference to his genius and he transforms into a blue Mercedes-Benz E550. He is an inventor and is seen giving the Autobots weapons and equipment he has created such as a gun for Ironhide, grappling gloves and boomsticks. He has his head gunned off by a Decepticon when Soundwave orders his execution before Bumblebee kills Soundwave. He was credited as Que/Wheeljack. Wheeljack makes a brief cameo in Bumblebee, and is redesigned to look like his G1 design. In Bumblebee, he was one of the Autobots who escaped Cybertron in an escape pod.
- The Wreckers are a trio of Autobots who transforms into NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Gen-5 Chevrolet Impala stock cars as disguises. Two represent Hendrick Motorsports and one represents Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. They also work on the Autobots' ship Xantium.
- Leadfoot (voiced by John DiMaggio) is the Wreckers' leader who transforms into an armored version of the #42 Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Target car driven at the time by Juan Pablo Montoya, and speaks with a Cockney accent. Leadfoot is armed with general-purpose machine guns and a right shoulder rotary machine gun. In Age of Extinction, he appears in drone video footage, being attacked and killed by Cemetery Wind agents. Cade, who hacks a Cemetery Wind's spy drone, shows the footage to the Autobots, compelling Hound to salute his fallen friend.
- Roadbuster (voiced by ) is the second-in-command of the Wreckers who transforms into an armored version of the #88 Hendrick Motorsports AMP Energy/National Guard car driven at the time by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and speaks with a Scottish accent. Roadbuster is armed with light machine guns, a left shoulder rotary machine gun and shoulder mounted missile launchers. In The Last Knight, he is seen briefly in Cuba under the protection of Seymour Simmons with Topspin.

Topspin is armed with heavy machine guns. In The Last Knight, he is seen in Cuba under the protection of Seymour Simmons and credited as Volleybot.
- Hound (voiced by John Goodman in the films, Daniel Ross in Transformers: The Game) is an Autobot commando[8] who transforms into a dark green Oshkosh Defense Medium Tactical Truck in Age of Extinction.[9] His robot mode is modeled after a human commando with a bushy beard and bullet which he smokes like a cigar. Hound is the heavy weapons expert of the small group carrying various types of guns, as well as grenades and a knife, with him. Hound returns in The Last Knight as an olive green Mercedes-Benz Unimog military tactical ambulance and as a new medic following the death of Ratchet. He is an amalgamation of Bulkhead and Kup.
- Drift (voiced by Ken Watanabe) is an Autobot tactician, a former Decepticon[8] and a Triple Changer who transforms into a black and blue 2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and a Cybertronian helicopter similar to Springer in Age of Extinction. He speaks with a Japanese accent. His robot is modeled after a samurai warrior with a braided beard. Drift is partnered with Dinobot Slug, who he rides into battle at the film's climax. Drift returns in The Last Knight as a black and red Mercedes-AMG GT-R, abandoning his helicopter form.

His robot mode is modeled after a human paratrooper with goggles, sidearm machine pistols, and even a trench coat which can act as a parachute. He also rides with Dinobot Scorn into battle at the film's climax, and later nicknamed him "Spike". Crosshairs returns in The Last Knight as a green 2016 Chevy Corvette C7 Stingray.
- The Dinobots are the very large Cybertronian Knights who transform into giant mechanical spiked dinosaurs. In The Last Knight, only Grimlock and Slug reappeared.
- Grimlock (voiced by Gregg Berger in Rise of the Dark Spark) is the leader of the Dinobots who transforms into a horned mechanical fire-breathing Tyrannosaurus, and formerly partnered with Optimus to ride on him.[10][11]
- Strafe is one of the Dinobots who specializes in assault infantry and transforms into a mechanical two-headed, two-tailed Pteranodon and formerly partnered with Bumblebee to ride on him.[10][11] He is similar to Dinobot Swoop.
- Slug is the savage destroyer amongst the Dinobots who transforms into a mechanical spiked and bestial Triceratops and formerly partnered with Drift to ride on him.[12]
- Scorn is the Dinobots' demolition specialist who appears in Age of Extinction and transforms into a mechanical three-sailed Spinosaurus and formerly partnered with Crosshairs to ride on him and name him "Spike".[12] Scorn has a right arm and a left tail-whip arm.
- Mini Dinobots are a group of small counterparts of Grimlock, Strafe and Slug. They appeared with Grimlock and Slug, living in Cade's junkyard.
- Mini-Grimlock is a smaller counterpart of Grimlock. He is nicknamed "Baby T" and "Sharp-T" by Cade.
- Mini-Stafe is a smaller counterpart of Strafe. He is nicknamed "Pterry" by Cade.
- Mini-Slug is a smaller counterpart of Slug. He is nicknamed "Tops".
- Hot Rod (voiced by Omar Sy) is an Autobot protector and Viviane's guardian who was first seen as a Citroën DS in disguise, and then transforming into a futuristic orange and black 2017 Lamborghini Centenario sports car. Hot Rod speaks with a French accent which he doesn't like and doesn't know how to get rid of. In flashbacks, he and Bumblebee helped fight the Nazis during World War II.
- Sqweeks (voiced by Reno Wilson) is a small Autobot and Izabella's only friend who struggles to communicate and has trouble transforming due to prior damage and has the ability to change his new arm into a gun.
- Cogman (voiced by Jim Carter) is a human-sized sociopathic Autobot Headmaster who acts as Sir Edmund Burton's butler. Despite his status, his Headmaster ability is not demonstrated. He also has the ability to drive cars to escort Burton to safety and tends to go on a road rage when trying to evade capture by MI6 and British TRF forces. He can also shoot a missile from his mouth, as shown when he destroys a TRF SUV, causing it to crash.
- Canopy (voiced by an uncredited actor) is an Autobot refugee who can pose himself as a shielding pile of rubble and is friends of Izabella and Sqweeks. He is mistakenly shot down and killed by TRF, believing him to be a Decepticon trying to harm kids who had trespassed into a restricted zone. As Izabella vowed to repair him, Canopy implored Izabella to run and thanks her for the companionship.
- Daytrader (voiced by Steve Buscemi) is an Autobot scavenger who transforms into a cloaked rusty Mercedes-Benz LK Model 1920 dump truck. He is seen arriving at Cade's junkyard after salvaging old Transformers parts from old battles for profit and finding a ship for the Autobots to leave. Daytrader is similar to Wreck-Gar.
- Trench is an Autobot who resembles the same body of Scrapper and transforms into a yellow Caterpillar 320 excavator. He made a cameo in The Last Knight, transforming when the Decepticons are approaching Cade's junkyard, forcing Cade, the Autobots and the others to escape. His fate is unknown.
- Burton's Autobot Allies – The following Autobots are allied with Sir Edmund Burton and Cogman.
- Bulldog (voiced by Mark Ryan) is an Autobot who acts as a sentry for Sir Edmund Burton's castle and transforms into an army green Mark IV tank. Bulldog suffers with "robot dementia".
- Lieutenant (voiced by Mark Ryan) resembles a tweaked version of Jetfire and transforms into a Supermarine Spitfire (although this is not shown). He made a cameo in The Last Knight within Edmund's castle in response to TRF's arrival, but collapsed.
- An HMS Alliance submarine Autobot takes Cade, Viviane, Cogman and Bumblebee to the Knights' sunken ship to recover the Staff of Merlin in The Last Knight who doesn't transform on screen, but is mentioned to being a Transformer by Santos and was referred to as "she."
- Cliffjumper (voiced by Andrew Morgado) is an Autobot who appears in Bumblebee.[13] Like some different versions of Cliffjumper, he is a retool of Bumblebee with a new head design. While on the Moons of Saturn, he is killed by Dropkick after refusing to reveal the location of Optimus Prime and instead asking B-127 where the location of Optimus Prime is. His death is similar to his Prime counterpart in which he got sliced in half by Megatron, while in the "Bumblebee" film, he is sliced by Dropkick. Chronologically, he was the first Autobot to be killed and die onscreen. He would later be avenged by Bumblebee, who tears Dropkick apart with a chain and crushes Shatter in a flood.
- Brawn (voiced by Kirk Baily) is an Autobot who made an appearance in Bumblebee. Brawn looks like his G1 self.
Decepticons[]
In five films, 48 Decepticons have appeared in the series.
- The Fallen (voiced by Tony Todd in the film, James Arnold Taylor in the video game), formerly Megatronus, is a rogue Prime of the Dynasty of Primes, the founder and the first Decepticon (the second known born enemy of Earth from Cybertron after Quintessa), and Megatron's mentor. In 17,000 B.C., he and his brothers set out into the universe seeking distant suns to harvest to create Energon by building Star Harvesters, but the Fallen defies his brothers rule to “Never destroy a planet with life,” by building a Star Harvester on Earth in order to destroy both the planet and its sun. He then steals the Matrix of Leadership, the only thing that can turn on the machine. Luckily, his brothers stopped him and took the Matrix and hid it from him. Years after his betrayal, he is shown aboard the Nemesis, which was crash landed on one of Saturn's moons, in some kind of stasis. He is capable of opening Space Bridges at will, and he also has the ability to wield telekinesis, powers restricted to the original Dynasty of Primes. He also wields a void scepter as a melee weapon.[14] During the film, the Fallen seeks to invade Earth with an army of Decepticons and activate the Sun Harvester for an alternative Energon source as well as to get revenge on humanity and the Autobots for his defeat after taking the Matrix of Leadership. Landing on Earth, he uses Earth's telecommunications grid with help from Soundwave to force the humans to hand over Sam Witwicky, which will lead the Decepticons to the Matrix of Leadership. During the final battle, the Fallen steals the Matrix from a revived Optimus Prime and starts up the Sun Harvester, declaring revenge is his at last. However, as the Sun Harvester charges, Jetfire sacrifices himself in order to let Optimus utilize his components. After Ratchet and Jolt fuse Optimus with Jetfire's weaponry, Optimus Prime destroys the Sun Harvester and the Fallen is finally killed by Optimus Prime who tears off his face, revealing his skull and crushes his spark.
- Megatron (voiced by Hugo Weaving in the 2007 film up until Dark of the Moon, Frank Welker in the video games and The Last Knight, Fred Tatasciore in the Dark of the Moon video game) is the leader of the Decepticons. In the first film, Megatron is armed with a right arm mounted fusion cannon. He can combine both his arms to make a larger fusion cannon. He is also armed with a flail. In Revenge of the Fallen, Megatron is armed with a right arm mounted fusion cannon and a blade. In Dark of the Moon, Megatron is armed with a hand held fusion shotgun. Thousands of years ago, Megatron had crash-landed on Earth in the Arctic in his quest to obtain the AllSpark. When he is defrosted, he keeps his original alien jet form out of vanity. During the final battle in Mission City, Megatron kills Jazz, the Autobot top lieutenant, and duels with Optimus Prime, quickly gaining the upper hand. After being weakened by human fighter jets, Megatron is killed by Sam, who pushes the AllSpark into his spark core, avenging Jazz's death. Later, Megatron's body is dumped into the deepest part of the Laurentian Abyss. In Revenge of the Fallen, Megatron returns. Despite Michael Bay's initial claims of him not returning after he was killed and thrown into the Laurentian Abyss in the first film, Megatron is resurrected by the Constructicons with a shard of the AllSpark. Upon being revived, Megatron gains a new alternative mode as a Cybertronian flying tank. He kills Optimus Prime and later pursues Sam Witwicky for vengeance and to obtain the AllSpark knowledge the human possess within his mind. In Egypt, Megatron fights a resurrected and revived Optimus, but is overpowered and badly damaged, losing the right side of his face and his right arm in the process. Megatron then watches as the Fallen is destroyed. Afterward, Megatron retreats with Starscream, swearing revenge. In Dark of the Moon, despite his right arm and his half face repaired, Megatron changes his vehicle mode to an armored rusty Mack Granite 10-wheeler fuel tank truck and goes into hiding in Tanzania. It is revealed that Megatron made a secret deal with former Autobot leader Sentinel Prime, to invade Earth with an army using Space Bridge pillars and use humanity to rebuild their damaged planet together. However, Megatron is betrayed by Sentinel and has command of the Decepticons taken from him. During the battle in Chicago, Sam's girlfriend Carly goads him back into action; Megatron ambushes and cripples Sentinel. When Cybertron's trip through the Space Bridge fails, Megatron attempts to make a false truce with Optimus, but the latter sees through the ruse and attacks his eternal foe before Megatron could shoot Optimus, he tears off Megatron's head with an energon axe then Optimus uses his fusion shotgun to kill Sentinel. In Age of Extinction, Megatron's head is seen in at KSI, where a captive Brains discovers that Megatron's mind is still alive and in a deep stasis. Megatron silently manipulates Joshua Joyce and his creation of the artificial Transformers as part of his conscious gets placed into Galvatron. In The Last Knight, concept art for him has been released has revealed him to resemble a darker, more monstrous version of Optimus Prime's knight form, with a similar faceplate to Optimus's own and a horned helmet vaguely resembling his G1 incarnation helmet. He is further revealed to have his signature forearm-mounted fusion cannon which can also act as a flamethrower and he has a knightly sword like Optimus, further emphasizing the enmity between the two. His vehicle mode for the film has been revealed to be a Cybertronian jet, similar to G1 Cyclonus' jet mode. In the film upon somehow being rebuilt, he searches for the talisman to find Quintessa's staff. Later in the final battle on Cybertron, he is defeated by Optimus when Optimus cuts off his right arm as he did in Revenge of the Fallen, and is kicked through a wall, sending him falling back to Earth. His final fate is unknown.

Starscream is armed with a rotary cannon, missile launchers and a saw. A mid-credits scene of him escaping Earth and flying into space is seen, and he later returns in Revenge of the Fallen bearing Cybertronian tattoos and symbols on his body and commanding a new Decepticon army. In Dark of the Moon, Starscream is finally killed by Sam Witwicky who blows off his head with a small bomb that was designed and given to him by Wheeljack. In The Last Knight, his head was seen being boasted by Daytrader, who claims he found it in Buffalo, New York. Later it is seen being held by Megatron reminiscing about him. Starscream returns in Bumblebee.
- Blackout (voiced by Noah Nelson in Transformers: The Game) is a first-strike Decepticon and the first Transformer seen who transforms into a MH-53J Pave Low III helicopter. Blackout is armed with rotary machine guns and energon wave cannons. He can also wield his tail rotor blades as a melee weapon. He is extremely loyal to Megatron. Blackout is later killed when Lennox fires sabot rounds into his leg while he is strafed by F-22s.
- Scorponok is a Decepticon mechanical scorpion and a minion of Blackout, attached to his back. Scorponok is armed with missile launchers, spinning pincers (which can also be formatted into drills for burrowing) and an impaling spike that represents the stinger on his tail. After being damaged by gunships and losing his tail, Scorponok retreats beneath the sand. He appears in the Battle of Chicago last seen being shot in the head by a group of soldiers after a boom-stick blew off one of his legs. Barricade returns in The Last Knight, transforming into a 2016 Ford Mustang Police Interceptor. His final fate in The Last Knight is unknown, presumably he is finally killed. Barricade's robot form as revealed in released concept art, has become sleeker and more streamlined than his robot mode in his previous appearances. He possesses brass knuckles with the words "punish" and "enslave" engraved onto them. He is similar to Prowl.

He is physically unable to stand up straight. If he did, would be 100 feet (30 m) to 120 feet (37 m).[14] His jaws can open up to form a vortex grinder, and he has grappling hooks he is seen using to climb a pyramid.[19] A Combiner, Devastator is the Decepticons' ultimate weapon.[20][21] He is destroyed by a prototype railgun during the battle in Egypt. The 8 combined vehicles of Devastator[22] are Mixmaster, Scavenger, Scrapper, Hightower, Scrapmetal, Overload, Long Haul, & Skipjack.
- Demolishor (voiced by Calvin Wimmer in the film, Fred Tatasciore in the video game) is a large Constructicon who transforms into a white with red stripes Terex O&K RH 400 hydraulic mining excavator.[23] In robot mode, his treads turn into huge wheels, enabling him to roll either on the two of them, or only on one, with the other lifted over his head.[24] He is killed when Optimus Prime shoots him in the right eye at point blank range. He is a stand in for the upper body of Devastator.
- Payload is a Constructicon who transforms into a yellow Caterpillar 773B dump truck. Despite transforming into the same vehicle mode as Long Haul, he is shorter than him. He is the only Constructicon who has no toy in the Transformers Studio Series line, as of 2020, besides Demolisher, who even then will be likely to come out as a repaint of Scavenger. Even if the toy is released, there will probably be no way to connect him with Skipjack/Rampage since they already make a full leg. He may connect and wrap around the ankle, or just be a stand-in remold for Long Haul. This would be inaccurate, because he is smaller than Long Haul. Hasbro may hear fans' plea and make a Studio Series payload with an entirely new mold. He appeared in the final battle of Egypt, where he was watching the Constructicons form Devastator.
- Rampage (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) is a Constructicon who transforms into a red Caterpillar D11T bulldozer with model number M930, while in the toyline, he is a yellow Caterpillar D9L bulldozer, whose Robot mode is based after the Beast Wars incarnation of the same name. He forms the head of Devastator.
- Long Haul (voiced by Neil Kaplan in the Revenge of the Fallen video game) is a Constructicon who transforms into a green Caterpillar 773B dump truck. Long Haul is armed with missile launchers. Long Haul's robot mode was designed by freelance artist Josh Nizzi as fan art of the original character, by the time Revenge of the Fallen had just been greenlit.[28] The fan art impressed Bay enough to hire him on to the film.[29] He is killed during an air strike in the battle of Egypt. Although in the movie Long Haul's alt mode is a Caterpiller 773B, a relatively small truck, Nizzi had originally meant Long Haul to be a Caterpillar 797, one of the largest dump trucks in the world.[30] In Dark of the Moon, Long Haul is reused in the battle of Chicago before it was destroyed by Optimus. He forms the right leg of Devastator.
- Scrapper is a Constructicon who transforms into a yellow Caterpillar 992G scoop loader. He is seen to be able to use his left arm as a chain mace. He is killed in the Battle of Chicago by Optimus. Shockwave transforms into a Cybertronian self-propelled artillery vehicle. Like his original G1 appearance, Shockwave's head features a single red eye, and has a cannon in place of one of his hands, with a tube connecting it to his back mounted power core. Shockwave returns in Bumblebee.[41] Visual effects supervisor Scott Farrar said that the lack of eyes and mouth in Shockwave's design means "you have to read Shockwave through just the emotions of his face, almost like a silent-era film star," which caused the eye to have an intrinsic design, with a lens, a moving iris and an oscillating light.[42]
- The Driller is Shockwave's pet. It is a giant, tentacled Mongolian death worm-like Cybertronian creature, which is used for drilling purposes. It is also Cybertron's most feared predator. The Driller appeared, attacking and killing NEST soldiers, tried to get the engine part of the Ark, but Optimus stops it and retreats. Later in the Battle of Chicago, Shockwave commands his pet to tear down a large building, but the beast is decapitated and killed by Optimus Prime.

- The KSI Drones are the human-made Transformers that were commissioned by Attinger and built by KSI. They have the ability to change their forms molecularly instead of just transforming. They were built with the metal extracted from the remains of the dead Transformers. They were also modeled after both Autobots and Decepticons. They were originally mindless drones remote-controlled by humans, but later were granted autonomy by the Megatron possessed Galvatron, organizing them into a new Decepticon army. They fought in the battle of Hong Kong but were soon destroyed by the Autobots, Cade Yeager and the Dinobots. According to Joshua Joyce, KSI made about fifty molecularly transforming robot.

- Blitzwing (voiced by David Sobolov) is a Decepticon Seeker, instead of a more traditional Triple Changer, who transforms into a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. Blitzwing looks like Starscream from the G1 Transformers cartoon. He appears in Bumblebee where he ambushes Bumblebee while he was fleeing from Sector 7 and damages his voice box. Blitzwing is later killed when Bumblebee takes one of his missiles, impales him with it, and shoots the wreckage, causing an explosion that completely destroys him. Although, he is unnamed in the film, but in the credits, his name is shown.

Humans[]
- Samuel James "Sam" Witwicky (portrayed by Shia LaBeouf) aids the Autobots. Sam appears as a main character throughout the first three films of the franchise. However, the base is destroyed by Decepticon Blackout, forcing him and the rest of the squad to flee. They are later intercepted by Scorponok, but they manage to damage him with the help of aerial reinforcements and capture his stinger. Upon returning to the US, they are taken to Hoover Dam where they encounter a frozen Megatron. However, he and his team threaten Simmons and the rest of the agents when the latter refuses to release Bumblebee. Later on, he fights alongside the Autobots in order to protect Sam and even kills Blackout during the fight. In the second film, Lennox is now a US Army Major and serves as the field commander of NEST and is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by the third film. After NEST was dissolved, Lennox was recruited to join TRF which hunts both the Autobots and Decepticons. However, Lennox remains sympathetic to the Autobots and joins them in the final battle.

After copying the hacking signal to her friend Glen Whitmann, and getting arrested by the FBI for it, she is captured by Sam's friends Alex and Jay in a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter. She is then held prisoner at Alex's house. The writers had initially envisioned Maggie as quirkier and more cyberpunk.[55] The filmmakers opted and Jay or Taylor's natural Australian accent to give the film a global sensibility.[56] She found many of her scenes difficult because of the high heels she wore.[57]
- Glen Whitmann (portrayed by Anthony Anderson) is a computer hacker and friend of Maggie.

- Theodore Galloway (portrayed by John Benjamin Hickey in the films, Bryce Johnson in the Revenge of the Fallen video game) is the American National Security Adviser who believes the Autobots' presence on Earth is the reason for the Decepticons still remaining on the planet. However, this later evolves into irrational prejudice and contempt towards the Autobots, invoking the ire of Lennox, Epps, Ratchet, and (to a lesser extent) Optimus Prime, with Epps even going so far as to threaten him. After Megatron's return and Optimus' death, Galloway orders a shutdown on the partnership with NEST and the Autobots and to have Optimus' corpse shipped to Diego Garcia, also telling Lennox and his men to stand down. However, during the flight there, Colonel William Lennox straps him into a parachute, before opening the docking board, sending Galloway flying out of the plane. It is a rather violent and hysterical creature, armed with several weapons. When it tried to break out of the case with its bullets and rockets, it was killed by an energy pulse by Simmons. A Nokia-bot also appeared in the Verizon FiOS Commercial where Michael Bay bashed aside the Nokia-bot and it exploded, and he stated that his explosions are awesome.
- A Steering Wheel bot is the AllSpark Mutation transformer who appeared as the steering wheel of a Cadillac Escalade, transformed into a creepy wheel with spider-like limbs. It was seen clamping onto a woman's face while she screamed.

- The Dynasty of Primes (three of them are voiced by Michael York, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Robin Atkin Downes) were six of the Seven Primes. The Seven Primes are the first Cybertronians who came into distant galaxies looking for planets where they could build Sun Harvesters. It was during the Dynasty's rule that Sun Harvesters were not to be used in solar systems containing life. In 17,000 B.C.E., one of them defied his six brothers' rule about never destroying planets with life by powering up the Sun Harvester, an act that ignited a war and earned him the name The Fallen. To stop the Sun's destruction the remaining six stole and hid the Matrix of Leadership, sacrificing themselves to make a tomb of their own bodies, sealing the Matrix away. When Sam dies, he has a vision of the six Primes and they tell him he has earned his destiny. They then resurrect Sam, who uses the Matrix of Leadership to bring Optimus back to life and kills the Fallen. Their bodies resemble their brother, the Fallen.
- The Creators are a mysterious extraterrestrial race who are the creators of all Cybertronians (including the Seven Primes), based on the Quintessons from the Generation 1 lore. In the beginning of Age of Extinction, 65 million B.C.E., they invade the organic planets, including Earth, using the Seeds, cyberforming the planet, and ending the age of the Dinosaurs and causing the KT extinction event. Later, they harvest and use the resultant metal and the AllSpark to build the Cybertronians—Autobots and Decepticons. Million of years later, they send their assassin and bounty hunter Lockdown to Earth—to bring Optimus Prime alive, wanting their "chessboard cleaned" and wanting him to rebuild Cybertron, and kill the remaining Autobots and Decepticons. They appear to be hostile and consider the intermingling of species to upset the cosmic balance. At the end after Lockdown was killed, Optimus flies into space from Earth, stating that he is coming for them with the Seed. They don't appear in body, but a pink, organic-looking hand is briefly seen inside of one of their ships.
- Quintessa (voiced and portrayed by Gemma Chan) is a mysterious Cybertronian sorceress who claims to be the "Prime of Life" and the creator of the Cybertronians (including the Seven Primes) who seeks to destroy Unicron (and Earth). She has a Staff with the power of Cybertron, but her Knights betrayed her and stole her Staff and hidden on Earth. Quintessa appears to have the ability to create balls of blue electricity and throw them as projectiles. After Cybertron was destroyed in Dark of the Moon, she plans to destroy Earth to rebuild the planet with Optimus Prime (who was coming for questions on why his Creators want him back), who formerly becomes "Nemesis Prime", and Megatron. After failing her plan to retrieve her staff, she disguised herself as a human offers the Humans on how to kill Unicron.
- The Infernocons are a group of demon-like Cybertronians and the guardians of Quintessa who combine into Infernocus. There are six Infernocons to form Infernocus, but they are soon killed by Optimus Prime at the climax by having their heads cut off in one motion.
- The Guardian Knights[78] (also known as the Knights of Iacon) are a group of Cybertronian Knights who betrayed Quintessa and hide an ancient Cybertronian staff on Earth within their ship and gave it to Merlin. When a group of kids enter a war torn area of Chicago to see some "dead robots", they are frightened by a dying Knight awakening while looking in his crashed ship. Cade discovers a Knight, who refuses treatment and gives Cade the talisman before dying.
- Skullitron is a Guardian Knight who only appeared in The Last Knight. When Cade and Viviane arrive to find the staff, the TRF arrive after Cade accidentally awakens Skullitron. He attacks everyone present to protect the staff, but is shot multiple times by the TRF and falls into a large crevice to his death.
- Dragonstorm is the combined form of the 12 Knights who appears as a mechanical three-headed dragon.[79]
- Unicron is the Chaos Bringer that formed Earth and Cybertron's ancient enemy who finally appeared in The Last Knight. His six horns are around the planet when Sir Edmund Burton searched a book with pictures of Unicron and Cybertron itself. Later, Quintessa seeks to destroy Unicron, so that Cybertron will live. Two worlds begin to collide, but two worlds are saved by the Autobots and the Knights who retrieved the Staff and vanquished Quintessa. However, unaware to them, Quintessa survived and disguised herself as a Human and continues her plans to destroy him.
- A Vatti Transformer is a Cybertronian who only appeared when Daytrader was collecting the remain pieces. It transformed into one with two parts until it was killed by Bumblebee.
- The Watch that Killed Hitler is a small yellow Cybertronian watch that is kept in a glass case by Sir Edmund Burton who appeared in The Last Knight. It keeps various deadly weapons hidden inside its inner workings that it deploys when a target is close enough. As the name suggests, this watch killed Adolf Hitler. It injected Hitler with a toxin that immediately killed him. Sir Edmund Burton used this watch to discourage British guards from stopping his conversation with the Prime Minister.
Villains[]
- Dylan Gould (portrayed by Patrick Dempsey) is a human collaborator and secret agent of the Decepticons. His father also first met with Soundwave and Laserbeak. Later in the Battle of Chicago, he is finally killed by Sam Witwicky by knocking him into the activated control pillar, electrocuting him as punishment for his betrayal, before Optimus kills Sentinel.
- Cemetery Wind is a secret black-ops unit of the Central Intelligence Agency and works with KSI. They were asked to hunt down the Decepticons only, but without the President's and their own agency's knowledge, Cemetery Wind have secretly gone rogue by eliminating the Autobots and due to Attinger's belief that all Transformers were menaces to humanity, no matter their faction. After the final battle of Hong Kong and the deaths of Attinger and Savoy, Cemetery Wind was disbanded for military crime and was replaced with the TRF.
- Harold Attinger (portrayed by Kelsey Grammer) is a rogue CIA operative who is the nefarious founder of the black ops division Cemetery Wind. Later in the battle of Hong Kong, he is finally killed after being shot in the chest by Optimus Prime, saving Cade's life, before Optimus kills Lockdown.
- James Savoy (portrayed by Titus Welliver) is a ruthless, corrupt field leader of the CIA black ops division Cemetery Wind and second in-command of Harold Attinger. He lost his sister in the battle of Chicago, which might be one of the reasons why he supported the idea of exterminating the transformers species and not care which side they're on. He later got killed by Cade Yeager who knocked him off a building during their fight.
- Lockdown (voiced by Mark Ryan in the film,[8] Gregg Berger in Rise of the Dark Spark) is a ruthless, cold hearted and barbaric Cybertronian assassin and bounty hunter who transforms into a grey 2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Coupe and speaks with a Cockney accent.[11] His robot mode slightly resembles Optimus Primal's appearance in Beast Machines,[10] but also features a scar on his left face and he is capable of turning his helmet into a gun, and uses his hook (from the Revenge of the Fallen deluxe version), a sword and a booster shot. In the film, Lockdown is working for Quintessa to bring Optimus Prime to rebuild Cybertron. He made a deal with Attinger (though he does have a slur towards humans, much like Attinger does to transformers, yet neither seem to hate each other specifically) to kill the remaining Autobots including Ratchet, Leadfoot, (possibly Sideswipe and Mirage) and Deceptions on Earth while offering the Seed in exchange for aid in hunting Optimus. At some point in the past, Lockdown also captures the Legendary "Dinobot" Knights and took over the Knight Ship, but they are later freed by Optimus in order to destroy Galvatron's army. Later in a duel at Hong Kong, Lockdown is bisected by Optimus Prime, avenging the deaths of Lucas, Ratchet, and Leadfoot. Afterwards, his body was disposed of by his own grenade, when Optimus destroys the rest of the KSI Drones.
- The Shadow Raiders are a group of techno-organic humanoids of Lockdown. They use the Drone balls to roll and see anything aboard the ship, appeared to have red or green lights on their faces and reuse the Decepticon weapons. Several of them are killed by Cade, Shane, and Crosshairs, while the surviving ones remained inside Lockdown's ship, as the two Drone balls are also killed by Cade on the Knight ship. They also used the Cybertronian starfighters, which first appeared in Dark of the Moon for Decepticons to first use in the battle of Chicago. It is revealed in The Last Knight that they were knocked out by Daytrader, taking the Knight Ship for the Autobots.
- The Steeljaws are the techno-organic wolf-like creatures and the minions of Lockdown. They are colored black and blue in the toyline. During the Autobots' raid in the Knight Ship while hanging on the cables, they are killed by Cade Yeager and Bumblebee. They were originally called Wolves (appeared in Trading cards), but later these names were changed to Steeljaws. The Steeljaws do not transform in the film, though they do transform in the Age of Extinction toyline. It is revealed in The Last Knight that they were knocked out by Daytrader, taking the Knight Ship for the Autobots.
- The Stupid Drones are a group of wheeled-bots of Lockdown who have cartoon-like eyes and have claws. It is revealed in The Last Knight that they were defeated by Daytrader, taking the Knight Ship for the Autobots.
