Lois Chimimba (born 16 August 1991) is a Scottish actress. She is best known for her roles in television programmes, including Beth Forbes in Holby City (2014), Karen in the medical drama Trust Me, Hannah Bailey in the Netflix television series The One (2021)[1] and Tara Kierly in the drama television series Vigil (2021).[2]
Early life[]
Chimimba was born in Glasgow, on 16 August 1991, the daughter of a white Scottish mother and an African father from Malawi.[3] When Chimimba was young, she and her parents moved to Malawi, where they lived until she was about two and a half years old.[3]
She moved back to the United Kingdom to study acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, from where she graduated.[3]
Career[]
Chimimba started her acting career when she portrayed Beth Forbes in the television programme Holby City for three episodes in 2014.
In 2017, Chimimba played the role of Karen in the medical drama television programme Trust Me, opposite Jodie Whittaker. The following year in 2018, she reunited with Whittaker in the Doctor Who episode, "The Tsuranga Conundrum", playing Mabli.[4]
In 2021, she played the role of Hannah Bailey, the wife of Eric Kofi-Abrefa's character, in the Netflix television programme The One.[5] In her interview on The Sunday Post, Chimimba said: "When I heard I’d got it, I was doing a wee bit in Sky’s A Discovery Of Witches. It was a night shoot in a storm so there was a lot of sitting about. I was wearing a corset, which I absolutely loved at first but within about an hour I was feeling pretty uncomfortable. It was cold and my feet were damp but then I got the call in the trailer about The One, and any grumps I had about being cold and wet were instantly gone because I was just so thrilled".[5]
The same year, she played Chief Petty Officer Tracy Kierly in the drama television programme Vigil.
