A weak tornado hit Metro Manila, Philippines at around 4:30 p.m., local time, on August 14, 2016, amid floods and heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon, which affected the island of Luzon. This was the second time in recorded history that a tornado struck the metropolis. Caused by a severe thunderstorm in Manila Bay, The tornado affected the city of Manila and Quezon City.[1][2][3]

Tornado summary[]

The tornado formed at the time of 4:25 pm in Baseco Tondo Compound. More than 200 houses were damaged and two people were injured. The water and electricity supply of the barangays in Quezon City, were shut down due to the tornado. More electric lines were damaged during the blast.[citation needed]
