Marjumak Ahmad
Marjumak Ahmad was one of the most important Ottoman writers of the 15th century.[1]
Life[]
There is little to no information about the life of Marjumak Ahmad. His father's name was İlyas. It is unknown when and where he was born.[2]
Poetry[]
He became well known among the empire when he translated Qabus-Nama to Turkish from Persian with the direct order of Ottoman sultan Murad II. The translation was made in 1432, therefore he must have died after the year 1432. Ahmad's translation of Qabus-Nama was the 5th and last translation of the book to the Turkish language, and it's the most famous one. The plain, understandable Turkish he used in his translation is effective in his work to reach this day. Ahmad mentions that his father's name was İlyas in the foreword of his translation.[3][4][5][6]
