Marvel HQ is an Indian pay television channel owned by Star India, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company India featuring shows and movies from Marvel Entertainment, as well as some acquired programming. The channel targets pre-teens, teens and young adults (6-17) with action-adventure animation and live action programming.[2][3] The channel is the Indian equivalent to the original American version of Disney XD which uses the same name and branding as the Marvel HQ website and YouTube channel.
History[]
Marvel HQ was officially launched on 20 January 2019, replacing the Indian version of Disney XD.[1] Disney India sees Marvel as a "pop-culture phenomenon" as the reason to have a dedicated Marvel channel.[4] At launch, the main Marvel programming would consist of four animated shows[1] and 40% of the schedule[4] with additional Marvel animated series added or seasons started in March 2019. But other than Marvel shows, this channel provides a number of other tv series such as Pokémon and Beyblade.[1]
On 18 October 2021, Disney announced that Marvel HQ would be rebranded as Super Hungama on 11 December 2021,[5] however on November 30, it was announced that the rebranding would be delayed until further notice.[6]
