Max Sedlmeyer
Max Sedlmayr (also spelled Sedlmeyer; died 1935) was a German climber and mountaineer. Along with Karl Mehringer, he was a member of the first team to attempt to climb the North Face of the Eiger in 1935. After three days on the face, he and Mehringer were overtaken by a storm at the top of the "Flat Iron" (Bügeleisen in German) and both were killed. The site of their last bivouac on the face subsequently became known as the "Death Bivouac".
