McAlpine Creek Park is a 114 acres (46 ha) park in the south eastern part of Charlotte, North Carolina. McAlpine Creek passes through the park and Irvins Creek joins McAlpine Creek at the southern tip of the park. Hiking trails weave throughout the park providing accees to the park's various geographic features. The original 1978 McAlpine Creek Greenway park was the first greenway built in the western piedmont of North Carolina.[1]

The park's amenities include a 3 acres (1.2 ha) lake with a fishing pier and gazebo, a nature trail, biking trail, outdoor fitness center, "off leash" dog park, and the Larry McAfee 5K Championship Cross Country Course.[1] The 5K course is frequently used by local schools, colleges, and events as well as being the home for the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (South Region).[2]

The Upper McAlpine Creek Greenway runs south through the park and continues to Providence Road. At the north edge of the park, Upper McAlpine Creek Greenway connects to Campbell Creek Greenway providing 4.71 miles (7.58 km) of paved greenway. Both greenways are part of the , a region wide network of trails that pass through 15 counties.[3]

Delphinium tricorne (Larkspur) can be found in the park, the only known population in Mecklenburg County. The adjacent Campbell Creek Greenway, is home to the last documented population of Queen Snakes in the county.[1]
