Michael G. Weist III is an American record producer and actor.[1] He is also known for his acting role in the film Jawline.[2][3][4] Weist is a member of The Recording Academy.[5][6]
He initially rose to fame from his work in the social media & influencer industry, managing influencers and clients such as Bryce Hall, Mikey Barone, & Larray, before becoming the subject of the Hulu original documentary, Jawline.[7]
Career[]
At the age of 16, Michael Weist became the private DJ for Grammy-winning rock band, Kings of Leon, performing for the band during private events, and while on tour.[8] During his sophomore year of studies at Belmont University,[9] Weist dropped out of college and move to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.[10] He lived out of the W Hotel in Hollywood during his first few months living in LA and searching for an apartment.[8]
On March 14, 2016, Weist was inducted as a member of The Recording Academy.[11]
Weist initially began touring,[12] and later went into management, production, and other activities.[13][14] After founding Good Times Entertainment, Weist launched the record label SwerV Records in September 2014.[15][16]
In June 2018, Weist held an event in collaboration with youtuber Tana Mongeau called "TanaCon."[17][18] The event was cancelled just hours after it began.[19] The event was announced on May 26, 2018.[20] TanaCon took place in Anaheim, California, at the Anaheim Marriott Suites, on June 22, 2018, and was cancelled the same day.[21]
Shane Dawson later released a 3-part documentary style series of YouTube videos that feature varied point of views between Tana Mongeau and Michael Weist's perspectives on the event, which won two Streamy awards; Documentary and Editing.[22] Weist and Mongeau both later apologized and said that refunds would be issued.[23]
Michael founded Juice Krate Media Group in January 2019.[24][25] Weist has also worked with Nike and Universal, among others.[12][26]
In addition, he starred in the 2019 film Jawline.[27] The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in August 2019.[28] The documentary received several reviews.[29] The film follows the life and business dealings of Michael and shows his work with former clients.[30]
In 2021, Weist appeared as a guest on the Dr. Phil Show, where he spoke about his previous event, TanaCon.[31]
