Michael V. Nelson (born June 2, 1954) is a Minnesota politician and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represents District 40A, which includes Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. He is a carpenter by profession.[1]
Early life, education, and career[]
Nelson attended Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park for Carpentry in 1974.
Minnesota House of Representatives[]
Nelson was first elected in 2002 and has been re-elected every two years since then. Nelson represents one of the most diverse districts in the State with a constituency over 60% People of Color.[2] Nelson is the chair of the State Government Finance Division committee and also serves on the Government Operations, Labor, Transportation Finance and Policy Division and Ways and Means committees.[3]
