Miss Auvergne is a French beauty pageant which selects a representative for the Miss France national competition from the region of Auvergne. The first Miss Auvergne was crowned in 1968, while the regional competition has been held annually since 1990.
The current Miss Auvergne is Anaïs Werestchack, who was crowned Miss Auvergne 2021 on 10 September 2021. No Miss Auvergne titleholder has ever won Miss France.
Background[]
The first Miss Auvergne to be crowned was Paule Marche, who had won the title in 1968. The competition was subsequently abandoned, and only held again in 1974 and 1978, before being abandoned again. In 1990, the Miss Auvergne regional pageant was officially established, with its winners competing directly at Miss France. From 1993 until 2004, the Haute-Loire department of Auvergne was represented independently by the Miss Pays du Velay competition, until it was absorbed by Miss Auvergne beginning with 2005.
