Munisha Mahajan Rajpal is a Mumbai based, story, screenplay & dialogue writer currently writing for shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani on Star Plus.
Early life and background[]
Munisha hails from Pathankot, a city at the intersection of three of the northern states of India- Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Due to its unique location, the city is a confluence of Punjabi, Pahadi and Dogri-Kashmiri cultures thereby enriching the lives of its dwellers.
Having studied in the Kendriya Vidyalas, Munisha also got introduced to a wide spectrum of cultures and languages from across the country thereby enabling her to pick and grasp various languages and dialects very easily.
An avid reader from early childhood, Munisha had finished reading all the books in her school library by the time she was in 8th and most of these books included notable works of the bigwigs of Hindi literature. From a very early age on, she started working with AIR-Jalandhar as a drama artist and continued to do so for a very long time.
Career[]
After having completed her graduation in commerce, Munisha went on to do her Masters in ‘Indian-Theatre’ at Panjab University, Chandigarh where she was the silver medallist and thereafter worked with the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and National School of Drama established 'Theatre-in-Education Company' (T.I.E), called 'Sanskaar Rang Toli' in Delhi, as an actor-teacher.
She also worked with Doordarshan as an actor.
Along with her husband Rajesh Rajpal, Munisha conducted numerous Theatre workshops for children, parents, teachers and corporate employees in various parts of the country and still continues to do so.
In 1996, she moved to Mumbai (then Bombay) and started working in Tv shows and lending her voice for commercials in various languages. During her pregnancy, in 1999, she turned to translation and went on to become one of the finest trans-creators for esteemed channels like Discovery Channel, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.
She has to her credit, Hindi adaptation for Theatre Release of numerous big Film Franchisees like Harry Potter (film series), High School Musical and over 50 more films. She has translated nearly double the number of series, documentaries, corporate Films, infomercials and commercials. She has also translated an Audio Book for Cambridge University titled, “Dare to be Different” which is an Awareness Book on Sex Education, to be used in Schools.
She writes both fiction and Non-Fiction and has in her kitty, shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, shree, Saas Bina Sasural, Ek Packet Umeed, Dekha Ek Khwaab, Meet Mila De Rabba, Kashi – Ab Na Rahe Tera Kagaz Kora, Jasuben Jayantilaal Joshi Ki Joint Family, Hum Dono Hain Alag Alag.
Currently she is writing dialogues for Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani.
