Nirmala Convent is a 2016 Telugu-language romantic drama film, produced jointly by Nagarjuna Akkineni, Nimmagadda Prasad on Annapurna Studios & Matrix Team Works banner[2] and directed by G. Naga Koteswara Rao.[3] Starring Roshan Meka and Shriya Sharma, with Nagarjuna Akkineni in a crucial role,[4] the film has music composed by Roshan Saluri.[5]
The film is the lead debut to Roshan Meka, son of Telugu cinema hero Srikanth and actress Ooha, after Rudhramadevi in which he played as child artist. Shriya Sharma who has acted as child artist in few Telugu films is the lead actress.[6] Roshan Saluri, son of famous Telugu music director Koti and grandson of legendary music director Sri S. Rajeswara Rao, was introduced as the music director.[7] A. R. Rahman's son Master A. R. Ameen has debuted as a singer in Telugu with this movie.[8] It even marks the debut of actor Rajiv Kanakala and Telugu Television celebrity Suma's son Roshan Kanakala and television actor Prabhakar's son Chandrahas as co-artists.[9] Nagarjuna has crooned a special song in this film after 17 years. He previously sang for the movie Seetharama Raju (1999).[10] The film borrows shades of Slumdog Millionaire (2009).
Roshan Meka won SIIMA Award for Best Male Debut (Telugu) at 6th South Indian International Movie Awards for his performance in the film. He also won Best Debut Actor Award at the 15th Santosham Film Awards.
Plot[]
Samuel (Roshan Meka) is the son of a poor farmer, David Suri (Surya) whose livelihood is only from a 1-acre land. Samuel is a studious and very intelligent who studies plus one in Nirmala Convent in a village Bhupati Nagaram near Samalkota in Andhra Pradesh. Shanti (Shriya Sharma), his classmate, daughter of rich landlord Bhupati Raja (Aditya Menon) of the same village also studies in the same convent. Initially, their acquaintance begins with teasing & quarrel but slowly it turns into love. Upon learning this, Bhupati Raja strikes Samuel and insults his father in front of everyone. Even then to make his son's love successful, Samuel's father approaches Bhupati Raja with the marriage proposal, to which he agrees on one condition: Samuel acquire name & money of his own merit. Samuel decides to become popular, lands in Hyderabad where he meets film star Nagarjuna Akkineni and asks him to conduct the Champion of Champions program in his village. After some drama, the star accept his request. The rest of the story if Samuel wins this challenge and gains his love with Nagarjuna's support & cooperation.
