Nivetha Pethuraj (born 30 November 1991) is an Indian actress and model who appears in Telugu and Tamil films. She made her acting debut with Oru Naal Koothu (2016).[3] Her successful films include Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam (2017), Mental Madhilo (2017), Tik Tik Tik (2018), Chitralahari (2019), Brochevarevarura (2019) and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020).

Early life[]

Nivetha Pethuraj was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.[4][5][6] Her father has a mixed Tamil and Telugu ancestry while her mother is a Tamil.[7] Immediately after her birth, her family moved to Kovilpatti, where she did her early schooling.[4] At the age of 11, she moved to Dubai, UAE along with her parents and studied in Crescent English High School.[8][4] She lived in Dubai for about 10 years.[8] She obtained her management degree from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.[9]

In 2015, she won the Miss India UAE pageant.[10]

Career[]

Nivetha made her acting debut in the Tamil drama, Oru Naal Koothu (2016). The following year, she made her Tollywood debut with the film Mental Madhilo. Her subsequent releases include Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam (2017) and the space fiction thriller Tik Tik Tik, which earned her critical acclaim.[11][12] In 2019, she signed major Tamil film Sangathamizhan starring Vijay Sethupathi directed by Vijay Chander, which opened to mixed reviews from critics.[13]

In 2021, Nivetha appeared in Red, directed by Kishore Tirumala, co-starring Ram Pothineni, Malvika Sharma, Amritha Aiyer.[14]
