Production[]
On November 9, 2020, it was revealed that an untitled film written, directed, and produced by Jordan Peele would be released by Universal Pictures on July 22, 2022.[1][2] In February 2021, it was announced that Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya had joined the cast while Jesse Plemons turned down a role in the film in order to star in Killers of the Flower Moon instead.[3][4][5] In March 2021, Steven Yeun joined the cast.[6] Principal photography began on June 7, 2021, in Los Angeles.[7][8] Peele revealed the poster and film's title on July 22, 2021, exactly one year prior to its scheduled release date. The additional casting of Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea, and Michael Wincott was announced the same day.[9][10] The film was shot using Kodak film, including 65mm film in IMAX format. In November 2021, Hoyte van Hoytema was confirmed to be the film's cinematographer.[11]
