Nora von Waldstätten (born Nora Marie-Theres Beatrice Elisabeth Freiin von Waldstätten) (born 1 December 1981) is an Austrian actress.[1][2]

Early life[]

Nora von Waldstätten was born in Vienna. She is a member of the former Austrian noble Barons of Waldstätten family.[3] She is the great-granddaughter of the former general, Theresien Knight and military writer Egon Freiherr von Waldstätten. Since the provisions of the Austrian law on the elimination of nobility forbid this from being a noble title, Nora von Waldstätten used this name until the end of 2016 as a stage name. She graduated from Berlin University of the Arts in 2007. During this time, she was engaged in productions for cinema and television.[4]

In 2004, she became known for her role in Jargo, 2005 to a broad public through her participation in the police procedural television series Tatort. For her performance in the series, she received the New Faces Award by Bunte in 2009. In addition, she was honored in 2010 at the film festival Max Ophüls Award for the film Schwerkraft as best young actress. Internationally she appeared as the role of Magdalena Kopp in Olivier Assayas biopic Carlos, which was celebrated in at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and was awarded a Golden Globe in 2011. In 2011 she appeared in a short film as a testimonial for the Austrian beverage bottler  [de]. In 2012, she starred in the international TV adaptation of Ken Follett's novel World Without End, and in 2015 in Austrian TV series Altes Geld. In 2016, she starred in Olivier Assayas Personal Shopper with Kristen Stewart and Lars Eidinger which won Best Director award for Assayas in Cannes Film Festival.[5]

Nora Waldstätten lives in Berlin. Since 2007, she played there at the Deutsches Theater in several productions. In 2010, she also appeared in two plays at the Schauspiel Köln.
