Okishio Castle (置塩城, Okishio-jō) also well known as Ojio Castle is the remains of a castle structure in Himeji, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. It is located on a 370 meter mountain.[1] Okishio Castle is the largest castle ruin in the Harima province.[1][2]

It is believed Okishio Castle was built by Akamatsu Masanori in 1469 and became Akamatsu clan's main bastion.[2][3]

The castle was demolished by Toyotomi Hideyoshi around 1590 [4] and stones and materials were transferred to Himeji Castle when Hideyoshi started remodeling Himeji Castle.[5] Its ruins have been protected as a National Historic Site as one of the Remains of Akamatsu-shi Castles, combining both Shirahata Castle and Kanjōsan Castle, since 1996.[6][1]
