Oleksandr Filippov (Ukrainian: Олександр Олександрович Філіппов; born 23 October 1992) is a Ukrainian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Latvian club Riga on loan from Sint-Truiden in the Belgian First Division A.

Club career[]

Made his debut for FC Arsenal Kyiv entering as a substituted player in game against FC Dynamo Kyiv on 25 November 2012 in Ukrainian Premier League.[2]

Desna Chernihiv[]

In 2016, Filippov moved to Desna Chernihiv[3] and in the season 2016–17 he has been elected the best player of the round 4 and 33.[4][5] ending the season with 11 goals scored[6] With the club of Chernihiv he was promoted to the Ukrainian Premier League in the season 2017–18.[7][8] In the season season 2018–19 in Ukrainian First League, he played 28 matches and scored 5 goals.[9] On 30 october 2019 he scored 2 goals in Ukrainian Cup against MFC Mykolaiv allowing Desna Chernihiv win 4-2 awat at the Tsentralnyi Miskyi Stadion. On 15 September 2019 he scored the winning goal against Dynamo Kyiv in Kyiv at the NSC Olimpiyskiy for the Premier League in the season 2019–20 at the 52 minute helping Desna to win away for 1-2.[10] During the play off for the Ukrainian Premier League in the season 2019–20, the 20th may 2020, he scored again against Dynamo Kyiv at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv allowing Desna drawing 1-1.[11] and he also scored two goals against FC Oleksandriya[12] and been elected the best player of the round 26.[13] On 12 June 2020 he scored against Shakhtar Donetsk during the play of the Championship round table.[14]

He was the second top scorer of the Ukrainian Premier League in the season 2019–20 with 16 goals[15] and with the club was promoted for the Europa League third qualifying round, for the first time in the history of the Club.[16]

Filippov was included in the best squad of the Ukrainian Premier League of the season 2019–20 season[17]

from 2016 until 2020 and he become the second Top scorer of Ukrainian Premier League in the season 2019–20. On the 22 August 2020 Filippov scored a penalty during the winning victory of 3-1 against Zorya Luhansk at the Stadion Yuri Gagarin in Chernihiv for the first match of the Ukrainian Premier League season 2020-21.[18]

Turkish club Sivasspor, showed interested to Filippov, that they were ready to pay 1.5 million euros for Filippov.[19]

The Belgian team Sint-Truiden in Belgian First Division A, offered 2 years contract and ready to pay 1.3 million euros for Filippov. The player of Desna attended also the medical test with the Belgian Club but Desna Chernihiv wanted 1.5 million euros for the Ukrainian Striker.[20][21]

Finally the agreement was done for 1.5 million of euro, Filippov become the most expensive player sold by Desna Chernihiv[22][23] Filippov became the seventh top scorer in the club of Chernihiv and he was named Best Player of Desna Chernihiv in 2020[24] and he got 14th place in the Ukrainian Footballer of the Year in 2020[25][26][27] Later, in January 2021, the President of Desna Chernihiv, Volodymyr Levin, admitted also that there were also Italian clubs interested in Filippov.[28][29]

Sint-Truiden[]

On 22 September 2020 he signed for Sint-Truiden.[30][31][32] He made his debut with the new club in Belgian First Division A against Mechelen at the AFAS-stadion Achter de Kazerne replacing Facundo Colidio at the 66' minute.[33] On 17 october 2020 he scored his first goal in Belgian First Division A against Beerschot at the Olympisch Stadion.[34] On 3 February 2021, he made his debut in Belgian Cup against Lokeren-Temse at the Daknamstadion in the season 2020–21.[35] On 20 May 2021, Oleksandr Filippov, who arrived in Chernihiv to visit his ex team mates and his ex-club Desna Chernihiv, and in an interview with "Profutbol Digital" spoke about the season in the Belgian "Saint-Truiden", adaptation in the Belgian championship, and relations with Oleksandr Ryabokon.[36] On 25 June 2021, he played in the friendly matches against Anderlecht[37]

Riga (Loan)[]

In February 2022 he moved on loan to Riga in Latvian Higher League.On 13 February 2022 he scored against Rodina Moscow during the friendly match.[38][39][40]On 12 March 2022 he scored his first goal in Latvian Higher League by penalty against Valmiera in the season 2022.[41][42]

International career[]

In January 2013, he reached the final of the 2013 Commonwealth of Independent States Cup with the Ukraine-21 team, playing in four matches and scoring one goal.[43]
