The Opel Twin was one such prototype built by Opel during 1991, which was an electric car with an exchangeable drive unit including the rear wheels. For an electric drive the batteries and motors could be replaced by an internal combustion engine including fuel tank, gearbox and an exhaust system.
The electric drive consist of two 10kW engines and one 29kWh battery for 200km range, the petrol drive had one 0.8 litre 25kW engine and with twenty litre fuel having the range of 500km (3.5l/100km). The première of the Twin was at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1992.[1]
