Paroo (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (also spelt Paru) is an assembly constituency in Muzaffarpur district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview[]

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 97 Paroo (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Saraiya community development block; Manikpur Bhagwanpur Simra, Chintamanpur, Jagdishpur Baya, Kamalpura, Koriya Nizamat, Laloo Chhapra, Paroo North, Paroo South, Raghunathpur, Rampur Kesho alias Malahi, Bajitpur and Mangurahiyan gram panchayats of Paroo CD Block.[1]

Paroo (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 16 Vaishali (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

Election results[]

1977-2010[]

In the 2010 and October 2005 state assembly elections, Ashok Kumar Singh of BJP won the Paroo assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Mithilesh Prasad Yadav of RJD.[2] Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Mithilesh Prasad Yadav of RJD defeated Ashok Kumar Singh of BJP in February 2005, Anunay Kumar Singh of Congress in 2000 and Pramod Kumar Sharma of BPP in 1995. Virendra Kumar Singh, Independent, defeated Nitishwar Prasad Singh, Independent, in 1990. Usha Singh of LD defeated Nitishwar Prasad Singh representing Congress in 1985. Nitishwar Prasad Singh of Janata Party (SR) defeated Vaidehi Devi of Congress in 1980. Shyam Kumar Prasad Singh of JP defeated Ram Prit Rai of Congress in 1977.[3]
