Patrick McCarthy (born March 2, 1995) is an American sports broadcaster. He serves as the play-by-play announcer for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Princeton Tigers football and St. Joe's men's basketball. He also serves in as a fill-in announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies television broadcasts.
Early life[]
McCarthy is the son of Philadelphia Phillies and NFL on CBS announcer, Tom McCarthy.[1] When McCarthy was young, his father, then the announcer for the Trenton Thunder would call games with him sitting on his lap.[1] He played college baseball at The College of New Jersey.[1]
Announcing career[]
McCarthy began his career as the play-by-play announcer for the Reading Fightin Phils in 2017. The next year, he became the Iron Pigs announcer.[1]
McCarthy also serves as the play-by-play announcer on a permanent basis for Princeton football and St. Joe's basketball for both the men's and women's teams.[2] He has also announced games for Villanova University and the University of Pennsylvania.[2]
His announcing style takes influence from his father, Scott Franzke and Dan Shulman.[1]
