Pelita Harapan University (Indonesian: Universitas Pelita Harapan, UPH) is a private Evangelical coeducational higher education institution run by the Pelita Harapan Education Foundation (Indonesian: Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan) in Lippo Village, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia.[2] It was founded in 1993.
UPH was the first university in Indonesia to introduce programs entirely taught in English, the first to offer a liberal arts curriculum, and the first to introduce a multi-disciplinary approach to its programs.[citation needed]
History[]
UPH was founded in 1993.[1]
In 2006, UPH opened two residence halls, one of which was the MYC Dormitory.[3] Students at the university's teacher's college are assigned to the Teacher College Dormitory, which opened in July.[4]
In 2007, the university opened UPH Surabaya.[5]
Secondary school[]
UPH has an affiliated secondary school, called , which also has a student dormitory.[7] Its program provides a national plus curriculum, making it semi-international.
Sports[]
UPH has a winning basketball team called UPH Eagles. During two seasons in the years 2015 and 2016, Rivaldo Pangestio was crowned most valued player (MVP).[citation needed] In 2015, the Eagles won first place in LIMA. In 2018 LIBAMA (Liga Basket Mahasiswa) final their rookie Yesaya Alessandro Saudale scored 12 pts and grabbed 4 rebounds en route to their 4th consecutive title. Yesaya also won the MVP of the league.[8] (Liga Mahasiswa).[9]
