The school began in 1980 as the Victoria Park Montessori Playgroup, before becoming the Montessori Children's Centre with the opening of the first Children's House, Hibiscus, in 1982. Anne Zekas was the first principal. The school now has an on-site Playgroup (0 – 3 years), 2 Cycle 1 Classes (3 - 6 Years), 2 Cycle 2 Classes (6 – 9 years) and 1 Cycle 3 Class (9 – 12 years), 1 cycle 4 class (12-14) and 1 cycle 5 class (14-17).
The school first began accepting secondary enrolments in 2007.
