Pete Kaligis (born January 6, 1971) is an American football coach, former player, and former track and field athlete. He was an All-American shot putter, three-time Rose Bowl Game participant, and starter for the 1991 national champions at the University of Washington. Kaligis has been an assistant coach for various college football programs since 1994.

High school[]

Kaligis grew up in Bellingham, Washington.

College[]

Kaligis played for the Washington Huskies from 1990 to 1994, where was an All-American in the shot put[1] and starred on the football team.

Coaching[]

Following his college football playing career, Kaligis began a college football coaching career with stints at Western Washington, Washington, Montana, and Wyoming.

In 2012, Kaligis acted as interim head coach for Wyoming against Boise State while head coach Dave Christensen served a one-game suspension following a profanity-laced tirade after a loss to Air Force a week earlier.[2] However, Wyoming credits the entire season to Christensen.[3] On December 2, 2021 it was announced Washington State University had hired Kaligis as defensive tackles coach.
