Pokétoon: The Pokémon Cartoon Animation is an original net animation (ONA) series featuring different kinds of short animations with different Pokémon. These shorts started airing from June, 2020 and it's streaming on the Pokémon Kids TV Japan YouTube channel.

The first short was Scraggy and Mimikyu which was released on June 5, 2020. After a year, the second short named as The Pancham Who Wants to Be a Hero was released on May 5, 2021. After some days, four additional were announced on May 10, 2021.[1]

Zuruggu to Mimikkyu[]

Zuruggu to Mimikkyu (ズルッグとミミッキュ, "Scraggy and Mimikyu") is the first short which was released on June 5, 2020. It was subtitled as Chase the Beans. It uses Looney Tunes style animation.[2]

This short animation is produced by Japanese studio DandeLion Animation and Magic Bus; direction and storyboard by Taku Inuoe; character design by Miyoko Makio; assistant directors are Ryousuke Sembo, Shinichi Suzuki and Miyoko Makio; music by Kei Tsuda; logo design by Kenta Suzuki, Haruma Edo, Yuki Kawashima, Ryousuke Sembo; key animation by Mitsuki Kosaka, Karen Nishiyama, Masashi Ito and Yukari Kobayashi; colour designing by Syuya Yosizato and art by Tsutomu Ikeda.[3][4]

Hero ni Naritai Yancham[]

Hero ni Naritai Yancham (ヒーローになりたいヤンチャム, "The Pancham Who Wants to Be a Hero") is the second short which was released on May 2, 2021, and it was later reuploaded on June 2, 2021. This stop motion animation is created using Blender software.[5] This short is narrated by Asaco Nasu.[6]

This short animation is produced by Japanese studio Pancake and Yuuki Sakoda; direction, screenplay, storyboard, boy trainer concept, sound director, 3D layout editing and title logo designing by Junichi Yamamoto; 3D photographic leader, stage direction, character illustration production and 3D layout by Takashi Ishikawa; character design, background art production and animation direction by kapi; stage supervisor, colour coordinator, background art production celestial sphere production and 3D layout by Oswaldo Kato; executive director is Shingo Yamashita and assistant producer is Fumie Seki.[5][6]

Mattete ne! Koiking[]

Mattete ne! Koiking (まっててね!コイキング, "Wait Here, Magikarp!") is the fourth short which was released on July 2, 2021. This watercolor type animation has no dialogue and narration, only based on musical score to tell it's story.[9]

This short animation is produced by Japanese studio Colorido; direction, storyboard, character design, art design, key animation and animation direction by Cédric Hérole; sound direction by Masafumi Mima; music by Yuri Habuka and executive direction by Shingo Yamashita.[8][10][11]

Poka Poka Magmag House[]

Poka Poka Magmag House (ぽかぽかマグマッグハウス, "The Warm and Cozy Slugma House") is the fifth short which was released on August 5, 2021.[12]
