Marquess Hansan (Korean한산후; Hanja漢山侯), personal name Wang Yun (Korean왕윤; Hanja王昀) was a Korean Royal Prince as the only son of Seonjong of Goryeo and Princess Wonsin.[1] Around 1094 (30th days 6th months in Lunar calendar), Wang Yun appointed as Susado (수사도).[2]

Biography[]

The Prince was born as the second son of Seonjong of Goryeo, his personal name was Wang Yun (왕윤) or sometimes become Wang Gyun (왕균).[3] He was the nephew of Sunjong of Goryeo and Sukjong of Goryeo. The prince's mother, Princess Wonsin of the Incheon Yi clan,[4] was the granddaughter of Yi Ja-yeon and the daughter of Yi-Jeong.[5] King Munjong's second queen, , her mother in-law actually was her aunt (the prince's grandaunt).

In 1094, Crown Prince Wang Uk ascended the throne, but since he was too young at this time, so his mother, Queen Sasuk executed the government affairs instead. Because of the political situation whom could not be stabilized due to (이자의)'s problems, some peoples were conspired to made Wang Yun ascended the throne, but that was discovered by his uncle, Duke Gyerim (later King Sukjong).[1] At this time, Yi gathered his peoples and said,

"The current King (Heonjong) is ill and there are people spying on the throne from outside the palace. They gathered soldiers in the palace and tried to make a big deal out of it."
"지금의 임금(헌종)은 병이 있어 궁궐 바깥에서 왕위를 엿보는 자가 있으니, 너희들은 한산후를 받들어 신기)를 다른 이에게 가지 못하게 하라. 궁궐에 군사를 모아놓고 거사를 일으키려고 하였다."

However, Gyerim soon noticed this and informed (소태보) about this. So Tae-bo and (왕국모) brought troops into the palace. Later, Yi Ja-ui immediately murdered by the Duke Gyerim's faction and along with his mother, Wang Yun were exiled to Gyeongwon-gun [Gyeongwon County] (nowadays is the parts of Incheon Metropolitan City.[6] Meanwhile, there were no records left about the Prince's later life after got exiled.
