A Queen Mary cocktail is a mixture of grenadine and beer.[1] This mixed drink is typically served in beer glassware, leaving room for a generous amount of beer head which can take on a pink or cherry-like tone.[2] This drink can be quite sweet, and is best enjoyed chilled.[3]

History[]

Originating in North America,[1] the Queen Mary cocktail is a popular alternative to a Shandy that can also be found in other regions of the world, including Europe[4] and Australia.[5]

Preparation[]

A Queen Mary is made by pouring a few teaspoons of grenadine into a beer glass, followed by beer, leaving room at the top for a thick layer of pink-hued beer foam. Maraschino cherries are often dropped into the glass as a cocktail garnish.[4][2]
