Acharya Ravisena was a seventh century Digambara Jain Acharya, who wrote Padmapurana (Jain Ramayana) in 678 AD.[1][2] In Padmapurana, he mentions about a ceremony called suttakantha, which means the thread hanging from neck.[3]
