Robert S. Herring, Sr. (born September 22, 1941[1]) is an American businessman who founded Herring Networks, a media company that launched and currently owns AWE and One America News Network.[2][3]

Early life[]

Herring was born in Marksville, Louisiana, the son of a share-cropper. The family moved to California in 1948. After his father died, he dropped out of high school at age 14 and worked to support his family. In 1964, he founded a small chain of pet shops in Los Angeles County, California.

Career[]

In 1972, he founded Industrial Circuits, which he sold to Toppan Printing in 1988.[4] He was the founder and owner of Herco Technology before selling the company to Teradyne in 2000.[5]

In 2003, Herring founded Herring Networks, a media network based in San Diego. In 2013, the network launched One America News Network, a news organization known for conservative news coverage.[6][7][8][9]

In 2005, Herring offered $1 million to the husband in the Terri Schiavo case for the husband to cede custody of Terri to Terri's parents.[10]
