Ross Weatherstone (born 16 May 1981) is a former English footballer who played in the Football League for Oxford United and Boston United. Ross comes from a football family, his brother Simon Weatherstone is also a former footballer at the same clubs. Simon Weatherstone is now working as First Team Coach at Newcastle United. Ross has moved into Management at the Non-League level, he is now Hartley Wintney FC's U23s Manager.

Career[]

Weatherstone started his career at Oxford United, one of Ross' biggest highlight was making his debut live on Sky TV against Reading FC. Another family achievement while at the Club was, the Weatherstone brothers became the first brothers to play for Oxford United since Ron Atkinson and Graham Atkinson in a competitive fixture.

In February 2001 Ross signed for Boston United along with his brother Simon Weatherstone, Weatherstone played a big role in helping Boston United win the National League (English football) in 2002. Ross captained the side for a handful of games. The Weatherstone brothers are the only brothers to ever play in the Football League for Boston United.

Ross left Boston United and joined Nuneaton Borough for a short spell at the end of the 2002/03 season. At the start 2003/04 season Weatherstone signed for Farnborough Town, midway through that season, Ross signed for Stevenage Brough.

Throughout Ross' career he was riddled with injuries, mainly to his left knee, Ross had 2 ACL tears during his career. He retired from the professional game in 2005 based on multiple operations to his left lateral meniscus.

In 2006, Ross did make a brief comeback, where he signed for Didcot Town.[1] Ross officially retired from playing the game in 2007.
