Rubbers 7 (ラバーズ7) is a seinen romance manga authored by Sukune Inugami that ran in Sunday GX for 5 years and finished in 2007 with 7 volumes.
Plot[]
Rubbers 7 is a small Japanese convenience store with several very odd employees and one eccentric boss that loves playing ping pong. When a quiet young girl is framed for shoplifting she ends up working at the store. Can she help her usual co-workers including a shy boy and a drag queen turn the store into a better place?
Characters[]
- Natsuki Soeno
- The young high school girl who is framed for shoplifting and is forced to work at Rubber 7. Eventually she develops a crush on her older boss, Munenori Tounomoto, who seems to have feelings for her as well but pushes her away unintentionally when she finds out he was in love with her mother once. Her former surname is Kobayashi but when her mother remarries she takes the surname "Soeno" but she likes to be called Natsuki.
- Munenori Tounomoto
- The eccentric owner of Rubbers 7, he plays ping-pong against all his employees and is undefeated. Many of the customers think he is a gangster due to his looks and the way he dresses, and while he's a nice enough guy, many people think of him as a jerk thanks to his forceful tendencies. He develops feelings for Natsuki but ends up pushing her towards Hiromi's direction when it turns out he was in love with her mother.
- Hiromi Morioka
- A very brash boy that is forced to work at Rubbers 7 because he lost a game of table tennis to Munenori when he was caught unintentionally shoplifting. He is Munenori's principal victim. While he's silent and does what he's told at first, he develops feelings for Natsuki. Eventually he opens up more, constantly challenges Munenori to ping-pong games, and learns to stand up for himself, culminating in winning Natsuki's affections.
- Tencho
- aka "Manager" he is always smiling with his eyes closed. Tencho's wife is a former part time Rubber 7 employee.
- Ueda
- The oldest employee at Rubbers 7, he appears to have a rising dragon tattoo on his neck, Works in the Karaoke and is a good friend of Munenori and Shie's father.
- Junya Saga
- He is a transexual man who is manager in a gay bar, goes by the nickname "Su", is a fan of Munenori, and he acts an older sister to Natsuki and Hiromi.
- Shie Tounomoto
- The owner of the building and Munenori's older sister. Shie was married once but got a divorce.
