Salamé
Salamé or Salame or Salameh (Arabic: سلامة) is a Lebanese last name which means safety. It derives from the Semitic word S-L-M meaning peace, whole, safe, intact, unharmed, and free.
The name is found across Lebanon, and is found primarily among Maronites, Greek Orthodox Christians, and Melkite Greek Catholics and shiite Lebanese. Some of these families may be patrilineal descendants of the Ghassanids, and the name may therefore also be of Ancient Sabaean origin.
In some cases, particularly in South America, the last name is spelled Seleme.
