Samuel Lee Searcy (born May 3, 1977) is a business owner and former Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the State's 17th Senate district from 2019 until his resignation in 2020.

Career[]

Searcy defeated Tamara P. Barringer on November 6, 2018 in United States elections, 2018 as the nominee of the Democratic Party.[1] Searcy won by a margin of 50 percent to 47 percent of Barringer.[2] In 2020, Searcy was reelected, for a second term by defeating Mark Cavaliero by a margin of 51 to 44 percent. Searcy then resigned in January 2021 in order to take a new position serving the people of NC, which he did not specify.[3]
