Santri

Santri in general is a term for someone who follows Islamic religious education in Islamic boarding schools. Santri usually stay in that place until their education is complete. Santri name is from Indonesia, specially Java.

According to language, the term santri comes from Sanskrit, "shastri" which has the same root as the word literature which means scripture, religion and knowledge. There are also those who say that it comes from the word cantrik which means assistants to begawan or receipts. the head of the Islamic boarding school provides allowances to the santri.

Usually, after completing their study period at the pesantren, they will serve the pesantren by becoming administrators. In 2015, October 22 was designated as in Indonesia.
