Saype, pseudonym of Guillaume Legros, born on February 17, 1989, in Belfort, France is a fresco painter specialising in ephemeral (short term life) urban art and land art using biodegradable paint.

Biography[]

Guillaume Legros is known under the pseudonym Saype, which is formed from the contraction of "Say" and "Peace", two words he used in graffiti from an early age.[1] As an artist, Saype is self-taught, he began painting graffiti in the street,[2] at the age of fourteen in Évette-Salbert, a commune in the department of Territoire de Belfort.[2] His first works, made in his studio, were exhibited in Galerie d'art at the age of sixteen.[3] Saype specialises in grass painting, and ephemeral land art.[4][5] using 100% biodegradable paint[6] and is composed of water, chalk, coal and casein.[2][7] The artwork disappears after a month due to regrowth of the grass, the weather and the passage of visitors.[8]
