The Seattle Surge is an American professional Call of Duty League (CDL) esports team based in Seattle, Washington. Seattle Surge is owned by The Aquilini Group. On 13 September 2019, Seattle was announced as a franchise city in the league.

History[]

The Seattle Surge entered the league with a 5-man line up led by veteran Karma.[1] The team struggled early on despite high hopes with the new roster. The team started the 2020 season with back-to-back game 5 losses against the Florida Mutineers and Toronto Ultra. During the regular season the team failed to win a single Home Series, resulting in an 11th finish in the overall standings. During the playoffs the team finished 11th/12th after losing 3–0 to Paris Legion.[citation needed]

Before the start of the 2021 season the team drastically changed their roster by releasing Apathy, Pandur, Proto, Slacked, Enable as well as their Search and Destroy analyst TeddyRecKs.[2] Later in the month the team announced that Gunless, Loony, and Prestinni would be joining Octane on the roster.[3] With the team once again having a disappointing start to the season the team decided to make a change by adding Decemate to the roster with Loony being moved to substitute.[citation needed] Decemate however only stayed on the team for two weeks after being released just 15 days later,[4] with the team shortly after announcing that Classic would be joining the team.[5] The team however continued to disappoint, finishing the season in 9th place in the overall standings, causing the team to qualify for the season's playoffs. On August 20, 2021, Seattle Surge announced that it had released its entire roster.[6]
