Shang Juncheng (Chinese: 商竣程; pinyin: Shāng Jùnchéng; also known as Jerry Shang; born 2 February 2005) is a Chinese junior tennis player.
Shang has a career high ITF junior ranking of 1 achieved on 12 July 2021.
Shang made his debut on the professional tour at the 2021 Miami Open where he received a wildcard into the qualifying draw. He was defeated by Liam Broady in the first round, 6–4, 1–6, 6–7(6–8).
Personal life[]
Shang currently trains and lives at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.[2]
Shang is the son of former footballer Shang Yi and former table tennis player Wu Na.[3]
Career[]
In 2019, Shang was the first player born in 2005 to win a tournament on the ITF Junior Circuit.[4]
Shang played in the 2021 Roland Garros Junior Division and reached quarterfinal. He lost to Sean Cuenin in 2 sets (4:6, 5:7).
He also played in the 2021 Wimbledon Junior Division and reached to semifinal. He lost to Victor Lilov in 2 sets (3:6, 1:6).
Shang played in the 2021 US Open Junior Division and reached the final. He lost to Daniel Rincón in 2 sets (2:6, 6:76:8).
