Sri Shaila Mahathme is a 1961 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by Aroor Pattabhi and produced by Neerlahalli Thalikerappa. The film stars Rajkumar, Dikki Madhavarao, Balakrishna and Hanumanthachar, along with Jayalalithaa and her mother Sandhya in small roles. The film has musical score by T. A. Kalyanam.[1][2]

Jayalalitha danced as a child artist for a song in the film. She had accompanied her mother Sandhya, who played a supporting role in the film, to the studios and the producer Neerlahalli Thalikerappa and director Aroor Pattabhi were looking for a child artiste to play the deity Parvati in a school drama scene in the film, as the original girl who was supposed to dance could not come on the day of schedule. Pattabhi asked Sandhya if he could make Jayalalitha dance in the small sequence and Sandhya agreed, thereby Jayalalitha made her debut as a child artiste in Kannada films with this film. The movie was dubbed in Telugu as Srisaila Mahatyam.[3] While Sarot Ashwath wrote the dialogues, T. N. Balakrishna was specially credited for comedy dialogues. Mahalinga Bhagavathar played a small role in the movie.[4]
