Smilavichy
Smilavichy (Belarusian: Смілавічы, Śmiłavičy, Polish: Śmiłowicze) or Smilovichi (Russian: Смило́вичи) is a town in Belarus in the Chervyen District of Minsk Region, located at 53°45′N 28°01′E / 53.75°N 28.02°E at 156 m altitude.[1]
In Jewish tradition it is known as Smilovitz (Yiddish: סמילאָוויץ, historical usage from when it was a shtetl in the Russian Empire). The village is the birthplace of the renowned painter Chaïm Soutine.
