Song Jun-gil (Hangul: 송준길, Hanja: 宋浚吉) (28 December 1606 – 2 December 1672), also known by his nickname Dongchundang, was a Korean politician and neo-Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty.

Born in Okcheon, North Chungcheong, he was the best friend and distant relative of Song Siyeol. His daughter, Lady Song, is the mother of Queen Inhyeon, who would become the second wife of King Sukjong.

Relations with the Royal Family[]

Song Jun-gil's family line from his second daughter had made him the maternal grandfather of Min Jin-hu, Min Jin-won, and Queen Inhyeon. He eventually became the 5th great-grandfather of Empress Myeongseong and the 6th great-grandfather of Empress Sunmyeong. As Empress Myeongseong became queen, she kept close connections to her 5th maternal great-grandmother's clan, the Eunjin Song clan, and eventually had her 4th maternal great-grandmother's clan, the Jinju Jeong clan.

Empress Myeongseong had called her 4th great-grandmother’s father, Jung Gyeong-se, as her great-grandfather. So, the descendants of the two families, Eunjin Song and Jinju Jeong, were greatly favored by Gojong, and there were a large number of people who had been forced to pay a stipend in the past. At this time, Gojong and Heungseon Daewongun had a bad relationship with them, although they were their relatives. At this time, the families said this and groaned. "It would be nice if the civil war (queen) would reduce the pig neck and the war (wage) would increase the pig neck.”[1]
