Song Kenan (Chinese: 宋克南; born March 10, 1990) is a Chinese mixed martial artist who competes as a welterweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.[1]

Background[]

Song got into martial arts in fifth grade as he began training in traditional Chinese martial arts in his younger years. Song studied at the Hebei Locomotiva Technical College where he graduated as a welder.[citation needed]

Mixed martial arts career[]

Early career[]

Song began his MMA career in 2014 and amassed a 12-4 record prior to signing with the UFC.

Ultimate Fighting Championship[]

Song Kenan's UFC debut was at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Gastelum on November 25, 2017 in Shanghai, China.[2] He faced Bobby Nash and won by a very quick KO, after clipping Nash with a right hand and finishing him with some ground strikes, declaring him the winner by KO in only 15 seconds.[3][4] This win earned him the Performance of the Night bonus.[5]

Song then had his second fight at UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Edwards in Singapore against Hector Aldana. After a back and forth first round, Song connected with a right hand that dropped Aldana and followed with some extra strikes for the TKO win.[6][7]

Song faced Alex Morono at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Ngannou 2 on November 24, 2018 in Beijing, China.[8] He lost the fight via unanimous decision.[9] The bout won Song his first Fight of the Night bonus.[10]

Song faced Derrick Krantz on August 31, 2019 at UFC on ESPN+ 15.[11] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[12]

Song faced Callan Potter on February 23, 2020 at UFC Fight Night 168.[13] He won the fight via knockout in the first round.[14]

Song faced Max Griffin on March 20, 2021 at UFC on ESPN 21.[15] He lost the fight via knockout in round one.[16]
