Shrine history[]

The old shrine was built during the end of 19 century. Its roof was made of tile, and it had a tower of about 30 ft height from ground level. Due to the building becoming weak and old it was demolished during 1983. The first stone was laid in 1983 for the construction of a new shrine. After completion in 1987, the shrine was blessed and opened by , the then Bishop of kumbakonam.[citation needed]

Alter[]

The church had complete 29 years without any alteration. So, that the people of dharmanathapuram planned to alter the shine and rise the tower height from 19 to 37 ft from ground level. The work was started on 15 October 2015 and the work was completed and inaugurated by the then primary priest of kumbakonam diocese.[citation needed]
