Sunlight received "widespread acclaim".[7]
Reviewing the album for NME, Ali Shutler concluded that "As huge as Spacey Jane sound on Sunlight, it's never at the expense of their heartfelt honesty. All the jagged edges of conflicting genres are somehow smoothed out under their command and there’s not a moment of their ambitious vision that feels uncomfortable."[6]
Declan Byrne of Triple J summarised the album as "navigat[ing] past relationships, failures and lessons learned, but all through a bright, summery filter".[2]
