Tera Yaar Hoon Main (transl. I am your friend) is an Indian Hindi-language Marwari comedy television series, set in the backdrop of Jaipur.[1] The show is produced by Shashi Mittal and Sumeet Hukamchand Mittal, under the banner Shashi Sumeet Productions. It premiered on 31 August 2020 on Sony SAB,[2] and stars Sudeep Sahir, Sayantani Ghosh, Ansh Sinha, and Shweta Gulati in pivotal roles.

Plot[]

Rajeev Bansal, a simpleton bank manager, lives in Jaipur with his loving and caring family; comprising of his wife Jhanvi, children Trishala and Rishabh, parents Pratap and Sushma, brother Rajan, sister-in-law Ruchi, and nephew Varun. He wants to befriend Rishabh who shares a close bond with Jhanvi, and shares everything with her but doesn't have the same rapport with him. Rishabh finds his father's efforts to befriend him slightly childish, but an adamant Rajeev eventually succeeds in befriending his son.

Once, Rajeev and Jhanvi are talking to each other on phone while Jhanvi is driving. Due to this, Jhanvi doesn't see a pedestrian in front of her car and immediately turns her car as she notices him. The pedestrian survives but Jhanvi accidentally hits another car. Both she and the man in the other car die in this tragic accident.

One year later[]

Rajeev has lost interest in his life due to Jhanvi's death. A new Punjabi senior manager named Daljeet Bagga joins his bank who had lost her husband, Ravinder, in a car accident. Rajeev makes an awkward mistake while welcoming Daljeet, thus creating a terrible first impression. As he is humiliated by her in front of everyone, both of them take an instant dislike to each other. However, Daljeet is a kind and soft person from inside. Rajeev feels sympathy for her when a dark side of her life is revealed in front of him that Shakti, Ravinder's selfish and wicked younger brother, is trying to snatch Daljeet's children, Balwinder "Barry" and Twinkle, from her in the court as they are the heirs to Ravinder's property. Rajeev learns that the other person who died in Jhanvi's accident was Daljeet's husband and, out of guilt, marries Daljeet in the court to protect her children. She wins Barry and Twinkle's custody. But, Rajeev's family opposes Rajeev and Daljeet's relationship, unaware that their marriage is only a fake contract. Rishabh and Barry remain at loggerheads and are great rivals. Shakti repeatedly attempts to separate Rajeev and Daljeet but fails. After much trouble caused by Shakti, Daljeet makes a place for herself in the Bansal family and is accepted by everyone except Rajeev's children.

Barry initially hated Rajeev and cared about Shakti, but Shakti's true colours are soon revealed. Barry then starts liking Rajeev and later accepts him as his father, to Rishabh's dismay. Rishabh refuses to see Daljeet as his mother and hates her as he believes that she is trying to replace Jhanvi. Though Rishabh remains adamant, his sister Trishala realises how much Daljeet loves her and thus accepts her as her mother and develops a friendly relationship with Barry and Twinkle.

Daljeet, though hesitant at first, falls in love with Rajeev and eventually realises her love. She professes her love to Rajeev but he continues living by Jhanvi's memories and thus refuses to accept Daljeet's feelings. Daljeet feels heartbroken but hides the pain within her. Shortly thereafter, Shakti tricks Daljeet into confessing the truth about the contractual basis of her and Rajeev's marriage, which he records. He plays the recording of Daljeet's confession in front of all family members, which shocks them. However, they support Daljeet and stand by her side as she fulfilled all the duties of a daughter-in-law, and despite the marriage being a fake contract, she gave the family the love and care which Jhanvi used to give them. Shakti reopens Barry and Twinkle's custody case and shows the judge the recording of Daljeet's confession, demanding that he must get the custody of his "beloved" nephews. But Rajeev proves that Shakti does not care about Daljeet's children and is only after their property. Daljeet wins the case but her fake marriage with Rajeev is annulled. Both of them are disheartened by the annulment, while Rajeev unexpectedly falls in love with her but doesn't realise his feelings. Rishabh continues disliking Daljeet and plots to humiliate her but repents his actions when she discovers his plans but still defends him. Rishabh melts due to Daljeet's love and care for him and starts liking her.

The truth soon comes out that Jhanvi was responsible was Daljeet's husband Ravinder's death. Rajeev explains everything in detail and apologises to Daljeet for hiding this but she furiously states one cannot apologise for a crime, and tells him that he has broken her trust. Rajeev desperately tries to apologise to her and win back her trust but fails as she refuses to listen. Meanwhile, Rishabh is bullied by senior students in his college but Barry steps in to defend him and thrashes the senior students along with Rishabh. They develop a mutual understanding for each other and become friends by finally letting go of their enmity. Rajeev continues his attempts to win Daljeet's forgivness but in vain. Things take an unexpected turn when Daljeet meets with an accident which was planned and arranged by Shakti as an act of revenge. She is in a critical condition and is rushed to the hospital where she battles for her life. Rajeev is in shock and struggles to process this heartbreaking turn of events. Daljeet's heart stops beating when Shakti sneaks into her ward and cuts off her oxygen supply. When Rajeev learns about this, he rushes to the hospital, hugs her and cries. Just then, Daljeet's heart starts beating again and she miraculously opens her eyes, which the doctor claims to be the power of love. After Daljeet makes a full recovery, the fear of losing her in the accident makes Rajeev realise that he is in love with her. Daljeet forgives Rajeev after realising that he truly repented his mistake and never meant to break her trust.

Rajeev tries to express his feelings but is interrupted each time. He faces several challenges but eventually musters the courage and professes his love to Daljeet, which makes her overjoyed as she hugs him and accepts his heartfelt proposal. Rishabh takes this news well as he has now accepted Daljeet as his mother and knows that Rajeev would still remember Jhanvi and never replace her. Rajeev and Daljeet face several obstacles which threaten to destroy their relationship but they defeat them together. After overcoming all such hurdles, they get married in a grand ceremony and begin a new phase of life together.

Just as things are back to normal and all are happy, a new problem arises. Rishabh and Barry, though now loving each other immensely, get into a fight due to a misunderstanding, during which Rishabh accidentally pushes Barry from the terrace. Barry gets seriously injured upon which everyone rushes him to the hospital, unaware that Rishabh is responsible for Barry's condition. Barry suffers from partial memory loss, thus forgetting all the events of the previous year. Therefore, he remembers Daljeet and Twinkle but is unable to recognise Rajeev or anyone else from his family as he met them within the previous year. Rajeev and Daljeet are forced to hide that they are a married couple as Barry's health might deteriorate from the shock of finding his mother remarried. Rajeev decides to again befriend Barry and win over his heart, hoping to also restore Barry's memories while doing so. However, Barry misinterprets Rajeev's intentions and refuses to accept his friendship as he feels that he is coming close to him to be able to impress Daljeet and take advantage of her. Rajeev soon finds out that Rishabh is responsible for Barry's condition and furiously breaks all ties with him. Daljeet still loves Rishabh a lot and thus persuades Rajeev to give him a second chance, upon which he tells Rishabh that he will forgive him if he helps Barry recover. Rajeev continues his vain efforts to befriend Barry, while Rishabh accepts his father's condition and comes up with an idea to restore Barry's memories.
