The Long Ballad (长歌行), also known as Chang Ge Xing, is a 2021 Chinese television series based on the 2011 comic manhua of same name by Xia Da. The story is about a princess who must seek revenge for her family, and in doing so, her fate intertwines with a handsome tribal prince. The Long Ballad is a fictitious love story set against the backdrop of the Tang dynasty, during the reigns of Emperor Gaozu and Emperor Taizong. Although the story features some real historical figures in Chinese history; many of the main characters and plotlines are fictional.
It is directed by Zhu Ruibin and stars Dilraba Dilmurat, Leo Wu, Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning. The series airs on Tencent Video in 2021.[1]
Plot[]
Li Changge is a daughter of Li Jiancheng, the Crown Prince of Tang and supposed heir to the throne. Her mother is A'jin, a tribal princess and the former lover of Li Changge's uncle, Li Shimin. After losing her family to court politics, Li Changge faked her death and hid her identity. She unexpectedly met a tribal prince named Ashile Sun, who was the adopted son of Illig Qaghan - the ruler of the steppes and rival of Tang. She found out about the ruler's schemes against Tang, and decided to take action. As a result, Ashile Sun became the Qaghan's enemy while helping Li Changge. Yet, they soon realized that there was another rival plotting against both the Tang and Qaghan.
