From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Okunoren Twins, composed of Taiwo Okunoren and Kehinde Okunoren (both born 22 April 1983), are Nigerian fashion designers and businessmen. They are the creative directors and founders of Nigerian clothing brand OKUNOREN.

Early life and education[]

The Okunoren Twins were born on 22 April 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria. Kunle Okunoren and Abiola Okunoren are their parents.[1] Abiola is a businesswoman from Sagamu Ogun State, Nigeria, and Kunle is an engineer.

Career[]

The Okunoren twins started their menswear brand OKUNOREN in 2002. Taiwo Okunoren headed creative direction, while Kehinde Okunoren managed operations. Initially OKUNOREN sold imported men's shirts. But due to their clients' dissatisfaction with the products, the twins began designing shirts themselves. OKUNOREN decided to manufacture and design their clothes in Nigeria due to the mass availability of shirt designers. They were Nigeria's first children's suit makers and the first "fashion duo" of Nigeria.[2]

In 2007, they were nominated in the "Entrepreneur of the Year (Beauty & Style)" category of the Future Awards. They debuted at the Arise Fashion week in 2012, where they showcased their collection "the Global Africa". In 2013, the first OKUNOREN flagship store was opened in Ikoyi, Lagos.[3] In 2017, King Mohammed VI of Morocco was seen visiting an OKUNOREN store during an official visit to Nigeria.[4] In 2019, the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osibanjo, commissioned the Okunoren Twins to produce some outfits[5] The Okunoren Twins have styled several Nigerian celebrities including:  Naeto C, D’Banj, Seyi Shay, J.J Okocha, Don Jazzy, DJ Caise, Tinie Tempah, Tubaba, Wizkid, Davido and DJ Jimmy Jatt.[6]
