Theophilus Martins, known professionally as Theo Martins, is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, actor, DJ, designer and artist.[1][2][3] His artistic output has drawn praise from outlets including The LA Times, GQ magazine, The Washington Post and Wallpaper Magazine.[4][5] Martins began his career landing a role in Steven Spielberg's Academy Award-nominated film, Amistad.[6] He was street cast by Debbie Allen, the film's producer.[7]
Martins founded Good Posture, a record label encompassing entertainment, music, fashion, and art. The record label serves as an umbrella for all of Martins’ endeavors.[8][9]
Cereal & Such, a cereal company launched by Martins accompanied a compilation album featuring, DRAM, Electric Guest and Rapper Mez.[10][11] Martins wrote & directed, Food For Thought, a digital web series told through the experiences of a modern-day first-generation Nigerian-American living with a Cereal box.[12] The show was produced by Issa Rae's, Issa Rae Productions.[13] Martins published his memoir, "It's Right Where You Left It" on May 26, 2021, accompanying it with his debut album.
Life & Career[]
Martins credits his parents for the musical and artistic exposure while an adolescent. Embarking into a career as a DJ & Artist, after minor success as a DJ, Martins began to pursue his career as a solo artist. Partnering with Okayplayer, a website co-founded by Amir "Questlove" Thompson, Martins presented his mixtape,The Birth.[14][15]
Following a string of releases, Martins launched Good Posture, a record label to support his musical endeavors.[16][17]
In 2019 Martins released, "Cereal Sounds Vol. 1" a compilation album featuring, DRAM, Electric Guest, Mez & more. The album supported the launch of Martins' cereal company, Cereal & Such.
