Thirteen Lives is an upcoming biographical survival drama film directed by Ron Howard. The film stars Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton.
It is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 18, 2022 by United Artists Releasing.
Premise[]
The film chronicles the events of the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue that saw a junior football team and their coach trapped in a cave for a period of 18 days.

Production[]
It had been announced in April 2020 that Ron Howard was to direct the film, with William Nicholson writing the screenplay.[1] Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer would acquire the rights to the film the next month.[2] In March 2021, Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton were among the cast announced to star in the film.[3]
Filming began on March 29, 2021 in Australia. It will also shoot in Thailand.[4][5][6]

The film's original score will be composed by Benjamin Wallfisch.[7]
Marketing[]
The first footage from the film was presented as part of MGM/UAR's presentation at CinemaCon on August 24, 2021.[8]
Release[]
Thirteen Lives is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2022.[9] It was originally set for an April 15, 2022 release, but was changed to the current date in response to positive test scores from its test screenings, where it earned a 97 in the top two boxes and an 86 definite recommend, the highest in MGM's history.[10]
